I have been looking at insurance for a polo 1.4 8v 1995 for when I'm 17 and it is telling me on my own insurance with £250 exess it will be £3418.82 with my dad on the policy £3417.95. Although with my dad as the main driver it is £2829.95 and if i go fully comp £2371.79 with my dad as the main driver?! Just last year the quotes were around £1.9k not well over 2 grand! is there just a sudden rise will it go down starting to think ill never have a polo as a first car

Haha it's a nightmare mate. I was paying 150 a month on my 8v 1.6 golf with my mum as main driver. I'm now looking for a new policy on my own for an Audi A3 and cheapest is just over 3k i'm 18 btw.

Get a 1.0 litre if you haven't got it yet, not that quick - but neither is the 1.4 8v.

Better economy too considering how shit petrol prices are right now.

All you can do is keep looking. Insurance put me of buying a car its a joke but fingers crossed I'm buying a mk3 polo and it will cost me £1,500 to insure and thats with a claim for thefts and mods
