If you compare that pic of yours lowered 40mm to mine standard, both on same size wheels and tyres i'd say they look pretty similar, mine only slightly higher maybe (hard to tell by camera angle though because yours isnt side on) - so perhaps a 40mm drop on mine may be enough and could be exceptable :s But i suppose the 60mm drops a safer bet providing I don't have problems

This is about the exact stance/lowering I'm after its 'LE bon's GTI' I believe it is down 40mm all round but I am waiting for him to confirm

It does say 40mm on his gallery thread but I thought it looked a bit lower aswell. As far as anything else for the car no I don't think so mate, want to keep it pretty much OEM inside and out apart from the wheels which I've done and I dont think they have had a negative effect on the car and going a bit lower which I am sorting out in the near future :)

i believe he's referring to the appearance of the ride height. as in it looks lower at the back than the front, which is pretty unusual.

and now he mentions it, i reckon he could be right, but could just be the pic

I see, mmm I'm not so sure the picture isn't taken square on so its hard to tell but from that angle I can see where hes coming from but its very slight

My brake calipers were looking a little faded so I decided to freshen those up today with a lick of halfrauds brake caliper paint.

Before:

After: (gave it a couple more coats after this photo and it looks a bit orange/streaky in this pic but I can asure you they now look smooth and bright red)

My mates just bought a nice low mileage example of a standard 206 gti the other day so we took a few pics of our gti's together. I tried to tempt him with a polo gti but think he prefered the 206 gti prices. They seem very similar peformance though despite the pug having 2.0/138bhp. Here they are:

I have invested in some eibach sportline 50mm lowering springs to give my gti a bit of a better stance. Really pleased with how it looks now, I know some people would suggest going lower but Its good for an all round driving set up. The ride quality is still suprisingly good, better than I thought it would be. Hopefully will give me a bit more confidence in the bends aswell.

well u can def tell the difference, and looks lots better. for u i would say stick with the hight you are comfortable with but u might want to consider gettin the dampers upgraded at some point.

I was going to keep the original shocks for the forseeable future do you think that will be a problem then? I thought it would be more of a problem on more substantial drops

u'll get away with it, the shocks will wear quicker, maybe jst get sum uprated ones wen the ones u have go

Thanks mate very kind of you, I'm really happy with how it looks now so don't think I will be doing a great deal more to be honest. I've had quite a few people comment on my wheels, glad people like them because it wasn't an easy decision to let the original bbs ones go.

they look a treat, I'm toying with the idea of refurbing mine but to be honest for the price of a refurb i could get a new set of wheels! whats the handling and ride like now you have dropped it on the Eibachs?

You could buy my 16" wheels brand new for less than a decent refurb so I thought it was worth it as the bbs just continually corroded. The eibach springs offer quite a good improvement in handling in my opinion, they have completly eliminated any body roll and the car stays very flat on acceleration and gear changes. The ride is firmer but I wouldnt say uncomfortably so. Overall I'm pleased I had them because the handling and stance is much better but i'd be lying if I said the ride was as good as standard because it isn't. There are cheaper options out there and ofcourse the coilovers route but I'm happy with the eibachs

Exactly! I'm currently after some 16" Rx2's but there hard to come by in good nick. I might look into getting the whole supension kit if thats the case, not too fussed about coilovers either, i wont be adjusting the height so i dont see the point ...plus I'm surrounded by speedhumps

I waited around for ages for some 16" bbs rx2's but like you say very difficult to get hold of at a decent price and in good condition. As far as other modifications I'm not really sure mate, don't want to do anything that is not reversable when I eventually come to selling :)

They are eibach sportline lowering springs mate which give you a 35-50 mm drop, perfect stance and not to low, can still get passengers in and tackle speed bumps etc no problems
