so i launched the jetta

Featured Replies

leaving work today pulled up next to one of the lads i work with in his new shaped civic type R at the junction to get out of the industrial estate, i think fuck this i'm having you. gap in traffic, launch it like a mother fucker, massive bang, throttle sticks as i try to change gear and i can't get the fucker into second

limped it home to find this

to the untrained eye that might look normal but that engine isn't supposed to be sitting like that, and check out the dip stick where it hit the bonnet (that's what had been catching on the throttle cable).

gearbox mount snapped clean

the front engine mount had lost the 13mm bolt that holds it to the cross member as well so i'd driven it back with only one mount holding the engine in

thought i'd share my misfortune with you all seens as i'd just uploaded the pics to my lap top :-D

it's all sorted mate, just ripped one off my spare box. i was more pissed off about getting stuck in traffic than breaking the mount tbh

unlucky, i bet the guy in the civic found it funny though

i did something similar to the 20v whilst launching off the lights against an MG ZR 160, but i sheared the bolt into the gearbox casing :(

Winner!!!! lol

Ouchies!!

On a side note, those fucking clutch cables piss me off :x:lol: i spent a good few hours of head scratching trying to figure out how to adjust the mother fucker - arrrggghh!!:lol:

Why cant they just be simple threaded adjusting cables????
