Yes so bikes can get away with it, but I'm sure if they could they'd make them have front plates too.

Attitude? I'm all for petitions, but they won't get listened to if they're meaningless.

If it solved a problem, like it would reduce emissions or make the roads safer then maybe they'd listen. But look at this from a government point of view and there's nothing to gain. It'll mean people can avoid speed cameras (cue the safety camera lobby getting on their high horses) and solves absolutely nothing. Apart from making the front end of a few cars look nicer.

This is a total waste of time.

I'm with Alex on this one.. it is totally pointless. The only reason for this is cosmetic reasons.

New motorcycles registered within the United Kingdom are not required to show a front registration plate, even though they have a high tendancy to speed through front facing speed cameras and often get away with it.

So change the law and allow thousands of more people to get away with speeding... yep.. thats going to happen! And Imagine the news headline. "Government spends thousands of tax payers money to make peoples car look good" Page 2 would read "Thousand of tax payers money wasted as new speed cameras have to be scrapped"

Or you could just design your smoothed bumper to have space for the number plate you know full well you have to display without tacking it on to one side as an afterthought. Come to think of it, so should Alfa Romeo IMHO.

Although it is a rather pointless exercise, it is election season so if Labour think it'll win them some votes they might just run with it.

Essentially on the same level as compulsory dog insurance for wasting Parliamentary time though.

personally i think no front plate is stupid, and i flash deuchebags who dont display them because they probably dont know that it has fallen off.

this petition along with probably 85 percent on there are a complete waste of time and i imagine not many of them are even looked at by parliment let alone considered.

now if there was a petition for Tim Westwood for PM. now theres a worthy cause

the govermeant don't give a shit about what we want, that site was only set up to keep the silent majority by making them feel like they have a voice.

if you think about it though, rediculous ideas like this clogg the site up and make it less likely for them to take notice

they will actually find a way of enforcing compulsory front plates on bikes before they even consider passing this law.

thinking of it, yeah, from a polititians point of view, passing this law would be stupid.

but for someone that is passionate about their car, on maybe how their license plate is stopping them from going lower and they don't want to start cutting into their body kit or bumpers or whatever its a good idea.

maybe the law shouldn't necessarily be that you don't have to have a license plate on the front of you car, but more that if you want a license plate on the front of your car, then you can if you want to, making it a cosmetic decision.. Mitsubishi and Alfa have gotten away with having the LP's on the left or right hand side of the bumper... why not leave the decision to the owner?

As stated above because no one would run a front plate because they don't want to get done by forward facing cameras.

Who the chuff gives a chuff about a stupid number plate when people are not being given cancer beating drugs/care respite/long enough sentences for murder etc....the important list is endless!!
