seeing as you cant spell debt I'm guessing you don't know too much about economics? :p maintaining spending until the economy pulls itself out of the slump [which has been 'proven' by the 0.01% increase] which can then be paid back through tax money once the economy is growing again. what do you expect Cameron to do?

David Cameron wants to just cut public spending which in my opinion will put us in much worse a position, and probably put the country into a depression

also, i cant believe your argument for voting for somebody is simply 'you dont know what youre going to get'. david cameron is all image and spin and anybody who cant see that is a bit slow. he doesnt have a clue what hes going to do when hes in power. gordon brown was the chancellor of the exchequer through the whole boom period in the noughties so i would suggest that he does have a pretty good idea of what hes talking about

I am going to have fun ranting my spleen on this one.

I have taken the liberty of correcting the spelling of your first paragraph. You can edit and correct the second paragraph. Only because spelling matters.

maintaining spending

Continued borrowing.

By their own budget debt will be £1.1 trillion by 2011. You have clearly been spending too much time worrying about English & Literacy to practice Numeracy. Do you have any idea of how much money that is?

Going of 2009 Data here are just a few countries that are in a better financial situation than us. And realise that the UK has got a lot worse in the last 12 months. In no particular order -

Equatorial Guinea

Peru

Tanzania

Honduras

Lets look at the last 10 years of Labour shall we -

'No more Tory boom and bust'."

Gordon Brown, the Daily Mail, 11 October 2008

Instead he replaced it with Labour's Boom Borrow Boom

[which has been 'proven' by the 0.01% increase]

Stop watching the BBC and find a reliable source of news. They recently revised this number up to '0.3%'. Relatively speaking they are correct but it was actually because they double checked the Maths and realised they were further down Shit's Creek than they realised. See Linky - http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/finance/edmun...y-revised-down/

Maybe a worse position now but the shit has hit the fan in a big way. Only Winky & Mr Eyebrows are still oblivious to the outside world and seem to think they can carry on.

A quick comical example - The Beeb run the headline UK credit rating viewed as safe

The rest of the world realises whats going on - Here

Gordon Brown was chancellor of the exchequer and was the one encouraging excessive borrowing during the noughties so I would suggest that he does not have a pretty good idea of what hes talking about. Hes either too stupid to realise or allowed it to happen.

“A weak currency arises from a weak economy, which in turn is the result of weak government.”

He seemed to think that was the case back in the late 90s. But your not allowed to be horrible to him because of his son. He was upset on the telly and everything. He is a wretched piece of slime and by his own definition has failed as a Chancellor and then failed as PM.

Lots of Love,

but to be fair though, the recession wasnt great, but it was managed in such a way that it could of been well well worse. the scrappage scheme, reduction of VAT and gordon browns quantitative easing seem to have worked imo. he rode the boom, but you say spending on armed forces before we went to war reduced - wrong, the MOD etc are one of the only departments that have had year on year increases in spending. but the sun say 'our boys were ill-equipped', id say a lot of that is media spin from papers who dont want us in afghan etc [fair enough imo] but its also worth noting that it was not brown who put us in that position, it was blair.

the nature of the recession was unexpected and from news recently suggesting that a large bank in america possibly even caused it by hiding £50bn worth of accounts or something iirc. either way, the ramifications were global and there is no way it could of been predicted realy except by those who were responsible for it

think of black wednesday in 1992 when the tories were in power. i'll choose labour every time when it comes to looking after the economy. the tories are banding cuts around like their a good thing, but in the end we will all have to suffer. to expect to just be able to emerge from the recession straight away, by cutting spending, is wishfull thinking

we could argue about this all day though because even the politicians dont have a clue what to do. i just think brown has more of a clue, and david cameron is a smarmy as fuck eton posh boy whos thought 'oh I'm going to be prime minister', and actually contradicts himself in parliament all the time, so for me has no credibility.

UK economy - the deficit to GDP ratio has reached 13%. Greece's annual deficit to GDP is 12.5%. The EU have been dropping hints at Winky for a while (hence the latest leaked report) about sorting the economy out but as usual they are still dancing around No.11.

Throwing Good money after Bad. Has done nothing bar rack up more debt and prolong the agony.

Yes the media are tarting up a non-story but, albeit wonky and looking like a 3-year old's interpretation, there is Winky's name on the bottom of every sing cheque.

Most other economies have a memory of more than 15 minutes which is why they saved up whilst the going was good, hence they are genuinely starting to recover.

Blindly (no pun intended) borrowing and spending whilst wishfully thinking it will fix itself is not a solution.

You make out like Labour Party are from 'Da Hood.

when the going was good brown was spending more money than the country was making, squandering all our savings, so when the shit hit the fan there was nothing in the pot for a rainy day. This is why we are on the verge of bankrouptcy...

Yep, that's a man that really knows what he's doing.

Bankruptcy

sorry doug

I don't usually like to get into politics on the internet...

but are we forgetting here that this economic situation is not limited to the UK?

This situation was caused by fundamental problems with the west's capitalist economic system, not by Gordon Brown. It's too easy to blame the man in charge, replace him, and hope that everything will get better, when in fact whoever is in charge would have fucked it up just as badly. The economy is a far, far too complicated beast to be controlled by one man, and until the media stops brainwashing people into thinking that pointing fingers is going to fix things, nothing is going to get better.

Cue people reading too much into what I've just said and calling me a communist! :D

Cant blame labour's 'tax & spend' waste on the global climate, what concerns me about the idea of voting them out is that the thousands of jobsworth pen-pushers employed in recent years to wrap the system in red tape could find themselves out of a job. And with the dole que already a couple of million long, that'd be bad for targets.

Might save us a few million quid, though.

He also sold half the UK's gold reserve when the price of gold was at an all time low

when he was chancellor of the exchequer...i'm not the smartest but i know thats just

plain foolish.

I never voted for him and yet he can walk into the PM's job because his mates wanted

him to be PM...there should have been an election when that smarmy bastard Blair

fucked off to a better job.

Doug...3/4 of the Labour party were educated in private schools like Eton and Harrow

just like the Torries and the Libs as well.Politics is now the domain on the well financed

and educated upper classes...the days of the common man making a difference in politics

has long gone i'm afraid.

onelegout, if mr brown was even slightly as good at his job as he say's he is we would of been in a much better position to deal with the down turn and he would know that you can't borrow your way out of debt. Unfortumatly he isn't and now we are fucked.

Although he has 'saved the world' so i guess that's a good thing to have on his C.V
