Pay monthly?

if you cant afford to insure it, you cant afford to run it, if you cant afford to run it, you cant afford to maintain it.

that means itll end up breaking and you wont have the cash to fix it.

your young, insurance will always be expensive.

my advise is get looking for a job, take anything you can get, you can always look for another job while your employed and at least you get some cash coming in.

£2740? Bloody hell.

Out of interest, did you buy the car before finding out how much insurance was gonna be?

I'd wait matey. You'll be saving £1240 which you can spend (if you have it) on other things (except mods as your insurnace will most likely go up again!)

Pay monthly till your 18?

or just wait?

yer i rushed into it coz i had my previous car crushed n wnaated somethng quickly.

n i am tryin to look for a job. but its shit here. i followin this job at tesco up. had a group interviw n work exp n i havnt had any feed back.

n that 1500 quid quote is shit. if i bgo out between 11pm n 5 am i get charged 45 quid an hour so i will be usin up the savings i make. so dad says jsut wait till next month to see what quotes are. as it depends on how many claims the company has had in the month which differs the quotes. so will have to fork out by the looks of things :/

i want to pay monthly so its more fesable but dad wants to pay anually. :/

so yer i dunno will have to see what goes down.

SHOULDNT HAVE BOUGHT A 1.6 MATE really and defo wait till your 18 i got 3 points atm and i am not on the road due to funds but from turning 19 in april my car insurance goes down by £650 taking it to about 1900 with mods and point soo... yeah 2700 is rellistic for the car and age my previous car was a mk1 golf cabriolet and i payed nearly 4k comp for that same as you i bought it before i knew about the insurance :(

i'd still wait til you're 18...then next year, it'll work out cheaper...rather than doing it now...then next year it still wouldnt be as cheap as it could...if that makes sence.

No one has considered swapping the car for one with a smaller engine. Then you can get driving, save on the insurence and all the other costs.

Have you tried Quinn direct they are the goto company for youg people.

Just my 2p

if its unmodded try elephant? I went with them with my astra, fairplay its only a 1.4 but it was a massive jump from my 1.0 polo and i changed over my insurance midway through and it wasnt even £100 extra to pay.

Hated insurance when i was younger, make sure you keep to fully comp as you get your no claims and as soon as you hit 5 years get them protected.

I'm 25 in may and i have nearly 7 years protected no claims, I'm insured on my 1.3 breadvan for only £186 and my twin turbo supra for £700 with admiral multicar and I'm only using one of the years no claims towards the polo.

so it really is worth driving safe whilst you are younger as you will reap the benefits when you get older.

I just cant wait until 25 and it should hopefully get cheaper.

I had a 1.2 nova merit as my first car and was paying £1200 insurance and was only bringing in £450 per monthe which was hardto run a car on with the occasional monthe where i had to insure and tax the thing which left me scint.

My girlfriend has been struggling to find jobs also so she has ended up in poundland, but hey money is money and i give her credit for it as she absoultley hates it.

Hope you get yourself sorted fella

Bud you get no claims on TPFT aswell.

Yea i know but you get alot more cover for your money if you have an accident or if it gets stolen.

you get no claims on Third party fire and theft!

I have NEVER gone fully comp, always bought cars cheaply with the view to insure them cheaply if one dies I'll buy another rather than claim for it.

Each to there own i suppose, not sure why hou had to put NEVER in capitals, you make it out as though I'm doing something wrong going fully comp.

I was only making a sugestion and trying to help the fella out but hey, like i said above each to there own i know people that drive there car with third party only, i just prefer the thought of paying a little bit extra for better rewards if things go wrong.

And at no point did i say that you dont get years no claims unless your fully comp.

Just put caps as wanted to reiterate my point

when your father in laws a mechanic + your mother in law puts you on their Green flag cheap and when you own a £300 astra there is no point going fully comp :)

and no you didnt say about not getting NCB but just wanted to make it clearer for the guy :p

To the OP you say you rushed into it cos your other car was crushed, It wasnt crushed by the police for no licence and/or insurance was it? If thats why and youve got points ofr that at your age then your always gonna get royally shafted for insurance.

I really would look at what quotes you can get on a 1.0 or 1.3/4.

Also try a seriously limited mileage policy or the one where you cant drive at night. It just means one of your mates has to be designated driver if you go out.

fully comp for windscreen cover and they do the leg work if anything happens. Someone runs into you. even uninsured drivers you know your safe. Coutesy car the lot.

I'll never insure my daily car third party.

Get a job, you really think u can buy and insure a car without working? Youre living in a dream world pal

I started working at 16 to save for a car and settled with a 1.0l corsa and £1700 insurance fully comp.

You have to build up years no claims bonus!

Now I'm 22 with my polo with 5 years no claims and all mds insured fully comp for £50 a month :)

For me I get the cheapest insurance what ever the cover does/doesnt includes because I'll never claim on it, it will only be used if I damage someone elses car and they claim. To claim for anything else means the premium would go up more than the car is worth, and then will be on record for the next few years at least, take away the bonus and effect the price.

I don't plan on crashing anytime soon and drive carefully, it's seen me good for 5 years so I have full no claims bonus now.

It's the joys of being male and driving. Those who get insurance pay more because of those that don't!

(i'm 23 and pay £25 a month fully comp)

p.s

also get parents on as second drivers and more the better I found. that way you build the no claims and insurance drops loads.

ahh. bare comments. :L er yer my car was crushed for no licence etc. but i got away will everythng. so i dont have a record.

I'm just gonna keep looking round.

n i did try getting a smaller engined car. i had my mk4 for sale/swap for over 6 months n had no decent interests.

and the 2740 quote is from quinn n id save 100/200 quid if i got a 1 litre.

I'm trying to look for a job but its shit in crewe n the local area. plus most people stereotype me as i have a fair few piercings and big stretched ears. :/

and no I'm not gooing to take them out. :)
