Sick of my coilovers! Already!

Featured Replies

Hey dude

I found the the more I played around with the height the better the ride got. Don't get me wrong,it's not comfy by any means but my TA's were just as crap but 5 turns later and the ride is alot better. I think I must be down about 65 infront and 40 at the back on 195/50. I'm going to try 40 profile infront just to see if it gives me more room to play with. I'm still trying to get it softer at the back( rweason for the 50 profile to begin with.

Please post to let me know how you got on as I'm as close as you are to selling my TA's

Good luck

Get some FK Highsports mate, i haven't had antother brand of coilovers to compare them with but they were quite comfy tbh for coilovers and not to bouncy. I wasn't that low either!

Ahh Pepe-San, you must use your mind, overcome this challenge, grow some testicles..

I didn't like fk gighsports on my lupo.

On the polo I went for ap's - made by KW, 2 year guarentee and are about the same price. The ride is a lot more forgiving thatn the fk's as well.

I had TA's and whilst the ride was harsh I didn't find it excruciating however in my area I now know where every single manhole/pothole/bump is in the road lol.

Now I have the GTi I am extremely reluctant to put them on again just because the car rides and handles great plus I can approach speed bumps like anyone else.

I still love the look of slammed cars but for me I think I am starting to change into enjoying performance cars over 'stylish' cars; a mixture of the two would be perfect hence where more expensive coilovers come in but at the moment dropping £700 on suspension is not an option with second hand units coming in few and far between :?

Highsports won't be a bit better, they will be much better. I think about 3 or 4 people have mentioned Highsports now :)

Yea gonna try highsports I can hack firm but I feel like I'm in a jamie Oliver flavor shaker ffs! Lol! Cheers for all the help depending on what happens In the future foleE I mvht be taking the sameroute as you! I'm thinking Ibiza cupra/ decent spec leon/ maybe even a 9n gt tdi? Who knows! But I am keeping at this one soon and seen as I haven't got performance I may as well have looks haha

Are you free at any point this weekend pepe, if you want we can swap cars and go for a little drive to compare TAs with Konigsports, I've been looking at downgrading to budgets because a full set of budgets is equal in price to the one shocker I need to replace (which I don't even think needs replacing but the mot man begs to differ!) So I wouldn't mint trying them out to see if they really are that shit or if it's just you being a girl

PmD mate!

Oh shit.. I just bought ta's lol. I am planning on lowering my gti down by about 80mm I think. Not entirely shure even highsports will matter that low :o

I had cheapo coilies on my 6N and they were right down and the ride wasn't that bad in all honesty. They were far better than the ride on the supersport coilies I had on my golf.

I did cut the bumpstops down though.

Technics are good low down mine were firm but comfy at the bottom! But for daily I don't want it that low! Lol I wanna retain some ride quality but have the ability to go down low for shows etc (which I no ride quality will also go down hill)

Forgot to say with both my sets the ride improved when they were raised, not massively just noticeable....
