Featured Replies

so the other day i had a little accident in a car park.. didnt see this woman at all

shes tryin to screw me over basically and get me to pay for a whole new front end of the car... i hit her at about 3mph.

so i rang up my insurance company and asked wether it was worth claiming and they said that my insurance is going down by 30% at the end of the year if i dont claim and i would also loose my 4 year no claims if i claim?? I've been driving for about half a year... I'm not complaining

how do you have 4 yrs no claims if your 17?!

get a second opinion on your car. My boyfriend had a prang in his car and she said she was going to claim of his insurance even though it wasnt his fault and when he told her he was going to get a second opinion on her car (she'd gone to volvo, new alloy wheel plus respray of bumper £600) she didnt ever get back in contact, she must of knew we knew she was lying!

Yer I'm gettin a new quote for the parts and a quote for fitting at my local garage... she wants it done at a nissan garage where they charge you ridiculous prices just cus they can.

Not sure about how i got the no claims but I'm not complaining if they cant see the problem with a driver whos supposedly been driving since the age of 13 :D

mate you cant possibly have 4 years ncb you said it urself you have been driving for half a year......

Not always the case; I'm coming up for 2yrs no claims, only been driving since October just gone, its as of the date you take out policy.

Although summat aint right with your insurance, sort it out before you get phucked over, tbh.

how is that possible?? so u can insure urself on a car without a full uk driving licesne??

some people can use there motorbike/ moped NCB bonus aswell

ahhh rite

I've not had a moped or anything, but took out a policy in my own name and used that, now got almost two years.

Bonus.

well i never had a motorbike provisonal thingy when i was 16... took out insurance on my car last june... dunno how i have 4 years no claims but the insurance company said so and i have cheap insurance so I'm not gunna complain... i dont see how i can be fucked over when i haven't done anything wrong.

cause you can it's only insurance, it isn't a license to drive mate

you cant use moped no claims whoever said that, motorbike insurance is completely different to car insurance and you cant use no claims from one to the other however if youve made a claim on your car insurance it will put motorbike insurance up cuz insurers are theiving gits!

Erm, yes you can. Tesco, Direct Line and Ecar all take motorcycle NCB. You also don't have to declare accidents you have had on a motorcycle on a car policy, and visa versa.

I would correct your insurers on the issue of 4 years NCB. If the police ask you to produce an insurance certificate at somepoint and see that, you should be prepared to bend over and get raped by them. You sign a contract when you take out insurance, saying that all the details supplied are correct, it will come back to bite you in the ass one day, and will put everyone elses insurance up as a result.

But then you have to reinsure with them and they then rip you off :) just like this "no claims accelerater" crap that some insurers do so you have to reinsure with them. Also you cant use your bike no claims on a car insurance policy if you insured on a bike as youd be using the no claims on the bike 8-)

Re-insure with who?

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it doesn't need to be declared on a car policy, and visa versa. You don't have to re-insure with anyone with early NCB's. You are tied to that company if you want to keep them, but it is possible to transfer it to other companies under certain circumstances.

It's pretty obvious you can't use car or motorcycle NCB's on different vehicles if both are insured at the same time, I really don't see the point in your last post? You are just repeating yourself, which is wrong.

You just said what i just said ;)

Which is contradicting your first post....which one is right then?

It happened in a car park not on a public highway, tell her to go swivel, you're not paying. Accidents in car parks are not covered by insurance. citation

Well I would check on this whole no claims for 4 year thing.. as somthign isn't right there... as its potentionally fraud. Are you sure you are the person thats insured and its not under your parents name? or did you put in it when you got the online quote!

While you could use the whole accident in car parks are not covered... don't... Your insurance will pay out for damaged cause on private land and If you choose to use that route she can sue you personally for the damages to her car. You reversed into her so you were at fault. People who try to get out of their responsibilities and concenquences of their actions are tossers tbh. Just imagine if the roles where reversed!

Only you know if its worth claiming though your insurance.. to the maths and work it out. At the end of the day if you loose you 4 years ncb then its no great loss as you shouldn't have it any way!

Sure they didn't say "full years"?

Sure they didn't say "full years"?

ahhh that would make sense!!

my dad is on the policy aswell hes got like 20 years NCB maybe i got a little bonus cus of him????

and i know about the whole private land thing.. I'm still paying however because it was on private land i can choose where she gets her car fixed... i think.

so goodbye nissan garage who charge an arm and a leg for any work they do. hello local garage

Just bodge it yourself :p

just cause it needs to be fixed, doesnt mean you need to do it well!

^^ haha good point

those cases are not open and shut though and depend very much on their facts. you as a person in a car are insured. there was limited facts there and i cba typing the citations into lexisnexis and reading the cases.

the plaintiffs in those cases were trying to stretch insurers liability so that it covered an uninsured driver in the first place. thats what i gather. if the uninsured driver was rich, the fact the injury happened in a carpark is irrelevant.

if you drive into somebody in a fully legal car, in a carpark or on the road, you [or your insurers] will be liable

also, 4 yrs no claims when your 17. you either mishead them, OR they have made a mistake, in which case id correct them. as your insurers would no doubt be able to avoid any claim in a similar way to the link posted above !
