MK1 POLO '78LS - £2600 more price options on last post

Featured Replies

Pains me to do this so soon but i'm needing to get rid of my new long term project as i'm still out of work and money is running out slowly

Purchased by me start of Feb and i've spent the last few weeks taking it from a stock mk1 1.1ls to what you see below. Was to be a proper drivers car so no silly stretch or OTT stereo setup's and lowering etc.

So to the guts, 1978 1.1LS 4 speed in mars red, MOT till Dec '10 and taxed till end of August '10, clocks showing just under 40k

Fitted with a mk3 polo 1.3GT engine and 5 speed box (80k) running on CBR600 bike carbs, 272 cam, TA technix stainless steel 4 branch manifold and full custom 2" system with upswept tailpipe, head has been worked slightly so all in all a very potent little engine that makes a great noise and goes pretty well...estimated at around the 110bhp mark but still needs setting up to get the most out of it on the rollers. Facet solid state pump and 85mm adjustable filter king pressure reg take care of fueling, 12" slimline fan on stock mk1 radiator

Running on mk3 polo suspension with a 60mm shock/spring kit comprising of FK set up on the front and Gmax on the rear.

G40 stock brake setup.

Sparco 3 point harnesses, Raid Dino X full leather 320mm wheel on mk1 golf boss, TIM electric water temp gauge and TIM rev counter housed in custom pod under the dash, otherwise full stock 1.1LS interior.

NOS chrome bumpers, all original paintwork that only has a few areas that need attention...will get pics of those tomorrow for anyone interested but it's kept its age very well due to being ziebarted from new so the bay and underneath are rock solid, took me 2 days alone to strip the bay out

Mk3 polo GT steels running Dunlop SP2000 175/50/13's which have done around 500 miles total, also waiting on a set of Image TVP4's in 13x7 and 7.5 with gold centres and black bolts that are being made so will throw those in with the deal.

Pretty much everything has been picked up brand new so it's had a fair bit of wedge thrown at it already but i just can't afford to keep it now, loads more fiddly little bits that are needed for the install so apologies if i missed them out.

Bad bits:

Mk3 ARB needs spacing out to give a bit more clearance on the manifold but again never bothered me, needs fully setting up on the rollers to get the most out of it but it runs spot on at the moment.

Wheels that are on the way, this pic doesn't do them justice in the metal tbh, same as that but with black split rim bolts and gold centres:

So to price, as i'm so reluctant to get rid i'm putting it up at £3500 with the Image Rims when they arrive which is about another 2/3weeks or £2900 on the GT steels.

No p/x's

bump and now with lower price due to some chump wrecking one side for me, haven't tried to polish it out yet but the white on the door does come off but still needs both arches touching up and edge of the door and rear quarter. Not sure how much a repair would be so gonna knock off £300 from either price so now £3200 with rims and £2600 without

Really just need this gone now as i've lost all interest with the damage and everything else i've got going on.

So £2600 takes the lot including the image wheels, this week only

  • Author

Couple more pricing options this week.

£2600 including everything

£2200 without the image wheels and on the GT steels with 175/50's

£2000 on original steels (145/80/13) with spacers to clear front brakes

can remove steering wheel and have the stock wheel back in for £100 less of the above prices, and also harnesses out for another £50 less

any news on rimss? :D

any news on rimss? :D

yes and no

picked up today but test fitted the front's and the inner barrel is fouling on the box section of the suspension legs, big no no modifying the leg so Image are making the front's from a 2 piece to a 3 piece wheel with barrels with more clearance...only a couple of mm but will make the difference.

Should be ready middle of the week.

Cheeky pic of rears trial fitted to wet people's appetites
