i'm with Admiral and my insurance is £280 PA on a 1.0 mk3 polo.

I was originally quoted £600 3rd party (I'm 21, and have 2 years ncb with 3 years driving)

I managed to get it down by putting the car value as £1000, and going fully comp with a £1000 excess.. which i will only ever have to pay if i want the insurance company to fix my car.. dont have to pay anything to get a third party's car repaired. I only bought my car for £500 and only wanted third party anyway.. I'm never gunna ask the insurance company to fix my car, as it's not worth loosing my NCB for a £500 car.

I discussed it all with the guy on the phone and he said that's a water tight plan, and i'd never have to pay the £1000 excess or anything.

Dunno if that helps anyone? just noticed there are loads of people trying to get their insurance down and couldnt be arsed to paste this into every topic :p

I know it's gunna be more expensive for younger driver's.. but it might still help?

If you crash, and its your fault, you still lose your no claims bonus, whether you claim or not.

I was with Elephant (which is part of admiral) for a fair few years in my early 20's. Found they weren't competitve when I turned 25 though.

The excess on the policy means that you pay the first £1,000 of any claim, not just damage to your car. The other thing to remember is that if your car is worth £2,000 you are acutally under insured.

Not being funny mate but it sounds like you've just bent yourself over in the event of an accident (if it's at all your fault)! I see what your saying but your gonna have to be really confident you don make a mistake at te wrong plac at th wrong time!
