I've been taking time out posting on this forum recently due to some problems in my own life but theres some bullshit going round in this thread.

For one, doing the 60 quid and a penny trick, wont work. They have a backlog of people that do this every so often when you think youve got away with it they clamp down on the non payers or the people that try flaunt the loopholes. It doesnt work, you'll just end up going to court. Same as if you dont reply. you'll end up with a summons and possibly more points than 3.

The standard rate is 30 quid fine and 3 points. i got done for 34 in a 30 and took it on the chin, i was in the wrong so took the points. Different police departments have different rules, some are 10% and 2, some just 2mph or whatever. Some even offer the course only to a few select people.

You have 14 days in which if you dont recieve anything your in the clear. at 78mph though you should be fine. Your speedo must have been reading over 80. But lets me honest, on a motorway who's doesnt.

Read yeti's FAQ on speed camera's and police cars. its dead right just to put some of your rumours to rest.

I got caught about 6months ago down the motorway on M25 just as it goes into a 50mph into London and after I slammed brakes on and looked down I was doing 95mph and that never actually came through :)

You should be fine mate :)

Did you get done?

rich4130, if your message (above) was intended for haz911, then

I was doing 95mph and that never actually came through

Nah you should get away with speed awareness, but when i went on mine they said you only get them if you get caught doing 37in 30 or 49 in 40, or something around that, but is differs on the erea you get caught speeding.

Tell me about it, got 5 points and a £430 fine, was stupidly doing 90 on a dual carriageway in Norfolk (camera van), a friend at work got a speed awarenes course for doing 46 through the centre of Norwich. I know I deserved a punishment, however it was the same county, and he was driving in the city centre (30 limit) :x Would be nice if they had standardised punishments throughout the UK, but it depends more on the mood of the magistrates I feel :-(

it depends on how much you are over the limit in which areas.

my mate got stopped doing 36 in a 30, with the flow of other cars, obv picked on him cause he was young, he couldnt do the course. but his dad who got stopped doin 34 could, lol. if u have more than 1 person on you are insurance ask for the pic cause u duno who was driving, often gets dropped then

Fair play mate! Sure theres a few loopholes like that, but is it true about the £60.01? Lol

they cottened on to that one i'm affraid!

also, wtf is the deal with people getting the speed awareness course for getting caught in a 30? in my mind, speeding in the lower speed limit areas is far more dangerous than on a higher speed road?

i got cought by a speedgun doing 96mph in a duel carrageway that had a

(temp speed limit of 50mph the copper told me)

ops i took the 3 points for speeding and £60 fine no problems as i were in the wrong i did have to sweet talk by the roadside to get away with that tho

not true, new legislation states that if the owner cannot produce the name of the driver then they themselves will get the consequences.

it does depend how much over you are and the area. if you are within 200yds of a school/park/activity centre then they will book you at 32 in a 30 whereas elsewher you may get away with it.

they dont offer the speed awareness course in all areas of the uk, or if its only say you who was speeding that month in your county..

the only way you can possibly get away with it these days is requesting the calibration certificates and photos of the cameras and hoping that there is an error in them.

also i read a guy stating that if you are doing 80 in a 70 its ok because you could be overtaking, false, in court even if you are overtaking you should not be breaking the speed limit, if you have to break the speed limit to overtake then there was no need to overtake, therefore putting you up for further and different charges..

i wouldnt worry we are all gunna be screwed with the new gps satelite speed cameras being tested at this moment in time.. they already have them by us monitering roads with weight limits.. :paranoid:

I got caught doing 70 in a 30 (In my old civic) and was tailed, pulled over and asked not to do it again =p lucky!

i got 3 points and £60 fine for 33 in a 30!!!

if your stupid enough to speed, take it like a man and recieve whats coming.

no point in complaining if you know you were wrong!!!

it could be far worse, speeding does actually kill people... that would be a worse penalty to live with!

You was obviously stupid enough to pay that fine, i would of written a very strongly worded letter about that, what a joke must of thought you had mug on your forehead.
