There's places in Aberdeen where you struggle to determine where the pothole/road boundary is...

Absoloute nightmare in birmingham, some place you have to literally drive on the opp side of the road just to avoid the feckers..

I've seen a few that have turned into ponds there that deep lmao

If they actually used road tax for what it was first intended for...i.e. highway maintainance, but they haven't.

Aberdeen is getting worse by the day...since its the Oil capital of the UK hundreds of heavy vehicles are transporting equipment through it everyday. And unlike cars they can't dodge the potholes (not many cars do it anyway...people seem to aim for them) so in turn making them worse.

in Sheffield there stupidly bad, the roads were bad before but its to another level now. my cars only lowered about 70mm and on some roads i have to go like 10mph! been told as well that its something like 10% of road tax is used for road maintenance.

winter arrives, water gets in potholes, freezes, expands, makes a small pothole massive.

just be glad we dont drive around with snow chains

^ was that quoted from what they actually said? sounds like it haha,

It's pretty bad here (West Midlands) someone I know had their front suspension collapse from driving into a massive pothole.

Theres a section of road on the way to my workshop that i try and drive in the middle of due to huge (300yrd) strips of tarmac having been ripped up on both sides, exactly where the passenger side wheel go. and the "non" slip surface on the bends is now so pitted it actually causes a dangerous amount of bump steer that makes any car doing 40+ along it to end up bouncing across the road.

The local Ex-copper has said if anyone crashes because of it he will pay every penny towards the solicitors to fight the council.

Ill also get a pic of the drive-thru entrance at the local macdonalds were the road has sunk about 4/5 inches, leaving a huge raised section in the middle.

is that not because off fat fucks waiting to get there hourly big mac???

Theres a couple of quite small ones around where i live, a few have been there for years

they're just going to keep getting bigger and nothing will be done about them. The area is already a joke for speed bumps

Not lowered car friendly at all :-(

Check it, and this is the route i take with the smallest bumps, less/smaller pot holes

i didnt watch up will catch it on the iplayer earlier, but aye thats why there are always worst after winter. derbyshire council have started the pothole hotline, you can phone it up and they will fill the pothole regardless of where it is (granted its a council road in thier jurisdiction) i wanted to go out and find every hole and bell them up, but it aint manc grrr

would be nice to be a tarmac renegade in the night and go about filling the potholes that piss you off on your favourite routes

thats fucking well bad man, it got well agro driving to yours when flor was over, speedbump mission city

theres a massive dip across every lane on the m60 at the swinton interchange, you cant avoid it and at 70 it makes me think somethings going to fail and go flying off the car at high speed. always accidents on that bit of road anyway.

i know the 25 mile from my house like the back of my hand to work and can avoid most but not all of the bumps, getting onto the industrial estate are work the roads are just proper raped by lorries.

getting to the unit on the other hand on some of cheshires finest small roads is interesting and the start of the cat and fiddle run on the manchester side, my sweet christ its like being in edinburghs cobble stoned streets

well maybe if we left the E.U then we wouldnt be 40.000.000. down aday yes thats rite 40.000.000 aday !!!!

also if we stopped wasting money on ummmm speed humps which by the way round by me are the worst for potholes we would have more money to spend on the roads and did you know they only re-tarmac the entire road network once every 80 years!!!!!!!!!!!! insane they say there filling them in but for the price there paying to do that why not do the hole road ???

oh and watch the fuel prices rise sharply

hahahaha, never thought of it that way.

There never going to re-tarmac the Cat & Fiddle, they want people to go slower on it not faster

so true, we need to leave the E.U badly. why the country thinks they can even possibly afford to pay that everyday is absoloutly bonkers.

U.K is fucked, end of.

they should cancel the crazy plan of laying a new high speed rail line just to cut of a 20mins to london for the fat cats while were in recession and concentrate on real issues

the roads are a real issue because there ancient and there damaging peoples cars,as well as being dangerous, and the only repairs they recieve is a bucket of tarmac here and there..

its crazy in birmingham as there going to build a tram linking snow hill station and new street??? 10 min walk?? fuck that!! let them walk it,and use the money clearing the muggers off the streets instead

useless thick fooking government.... :x:x

i feel better now

What i want to know is how comes speed humps are unaffected by lorries and cold weather but the road arround the hump just crumbles

I think we should go back to concrete roads none of this tarmac bollocks, yes it takes days to set rather than minutes but my roads been here 80 years and theres not a pot hole in sight, infact id say its pretty much as nice as the day it was poured.

Concrete is hard and has no give, noisy roads, poor traction, big cracks. Plus its a nightmare to remove once its there.

also known as freeze-thaw weathering :) 2 years of studying Environmental Science has finally paid off!!

One time I ran out of fuel and pulled over. Ended up getting beached on my sump where the road had subsided where cars had been before. Took more than a jerry can full of fuel to sort that problem out! And I got my donor VR engine from a car which had been written off due to whacking the subframe on a manhole cover where the tarmac had subsided around that too, bent the floorpan, subframe, wishbones and steering rack.

...my coilovers still arent getting wound back up.

girlfriend drove through one the other night in my 306, was about 4 inch deep and protruding about 2 feet into the road, totally ripped the front wheel to shreds. vote connie if you want it to get worse.

the roads that damaged your 306 were caused by 13 years of labour stealing from the motorist to pay so a generation of people that can't be arsed to work can live like kings. in what way do you think it will change if cod eye clings on to power? Except for the country going bankroupt of course...

it's like some one that can't afford to pay their mortgage taking a private jet to work every day

it could ony make sense to an idiot, but people still try to claim that he knows what he is doing

fairly sure potholes have caused the rattling from the rear suspension of the 318, i think its caused the bushes on a shock to give up coz u can only hear it when proper jerkin about over some rough road. not sure how mch its gona cost to fix but i sure as hell wont be able to get it back from the council as it didnt happen from an isolated incident. so basically I'm gonna have to shell out for at least 1 new shock because my road and fuel tax doesnt go on maintaining the road to the standard it should and instead gets wasted on speed cameras and 5 series bmws for police officers to sleep in

thing that takes the piss is that somebody has spraypainted circles on the road outside my apartment complex thing, then decided they couldnt be assed actually filling them in!

my mums partner has a diesel seat leon and a pot hole snapped a front spring in half on the way to work the other day.

I've heard that surrey is supposed to be one of the worst for pot holes as well lol.
