Without the Audi carriers this is a worthless waste of money

What hubs have you used to do this? Would these work on the 1.0 hubs or would you have to buy 1.3 hubs for this to work?

1.0 hubs are the same as 1.3 hubs so will work on your car (eny mk3) as well.

Thats complete rubbish, the calipers are not direct fit as you need Audi 80 caliper carriers and these are very hard to come by. And how the hell are you getting a pair of new calipers for £50! even remanufactured items are circa £60 each. Same goes for discs too.

I'm very happy with my 256 brake conversion, its a damn sight cheaper than OEM VAG and readily available too!

hey guys, sorry it's been a while, moneys been tight so it's all taken a back seat, until now!!!!

the reason the pads dont cover much of the disc in the photos is simple, i had the metal spring clip thingy on the wrong way round so it was pushing the caliper away from the centre of the hub, as opposed to pulling it in! still, we learn from our mistakes eh?

with it all put together properly, there's about 7-10mm of disc not being used, so still plenty of contact area.

as was mentioned on page 1 (forgot who by, sorry!) the vauxhall lines do fit straight onto the vw hardlines.

i'm now running a 22m passat M/C too, so new hard lines were needed as they fit into the M/C at different points compared to the old one. Pedal shaft needed cutting down a bit (can't remember how much by, but it's easy enough to work out, try and fit the M/C, then measure the gap when you cant push it on any further!) also had to take a hammer to the bulkhead so the resevoir would fit, not ideal but hey ho, i make the best of what i've got

I used the MC from a Mk2 golf gti 16v (22.2mm) and it fitted perfect no modding needed and i re used the Polo reservoir so it didnt hit the underneath of the bonnet :)

I believe the mk4 polo resevoir fits the passat master cylinder. However I plan to do as you did thorpy and run the stock item :-)

Thorpy you say no modding required does this include lines? Did the lines all go on with no issues?

Thanks

not my picture, but one i found of gm hoses onto vw hardlines

NOt been on here for a while I'll try and get a photo of the hard lines going into the master cylinder, but from memory they go the same locations as the standard polo master cylinder!

are the mk1 golf carriers the same as the polo? because could easily go gti or g60 as they make adapter plates? just a theory?

they are, and 280mm spacers are avail for both the VWII and Lucas 54 carriers(Caddy Forum). the 256mm ones are not readily available in this country

Which vauxhall flexi's are to be used with this? I've read that some of the models used shorter flexi's than others, also do they come with the banjo bolt?

Mine came of a astra gsi.. they seemed fine , and should have banjo bolts with them .. scrap yard jobby guy (Y)

I've gone for omega B hoses as according to some one off the mk1oc they are perfect for the job

I also got m10x1.25 banjo bolts as according to manicgti in the how to that's what the vauxhall calipers are...which they ain't. They look to be m10x1.5, I'm going shopping for some tomorrow so i'll update as soon as I know for sure what they are

Anyone know what the piston size of the Vauxhall calipers are?

Look on bigred, I'm sure it states on the rebuild kits :)

I might be dumb....

... but I can't find a rebuild kit for these on big red

Irrc there 54mm ?

But there's two sizes due to the larger 268's off turbos etc ..

Look under Opel not Vauxhall

Can anyone confirm the banjo fitting thread size?

m10 x 1.5 or 1.25?

Mine were not 1.25, I'm almost 100% certain they turned out to be 1.5 but it has been over a year now and I've bought a lot of other shit since then

so, anyone that's done this, can you confirm the total size of the conversion? i.e measurement from centre of driveshaft to outside edge of caliper?

I want to find some 13's that I can tuck these under.

Cheers

Can anyone tell me how long the "shoulder" part of the shoulder bolt needs to be to fit vauxhall carriers?

Thanks

Great thread btw
