3dr 6N Progress thread - UPDATE, CAR SPRAYED

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm sean, bought this 6n at the end of feburary and after going around all the bad patches, i decided patching it up, with the already faded red paint, isnt going to work so have opted for a full respray, and considering i'm doing vehicle body repair at college, i have an idea with what i've gotta do. Its a P reg, just under 110k on the clock, full service history, just a shame about the rotten shell :(

When i bought it;

Several stages of work; - Sorting the rear arches, back quarter and doors for rust, and a dent in the front wing, also went round getting most of the stone chips flatted out. Removed badges and smoothed the VW badge recess on the boot.

Then, today i went down and noticed the rust is starting to poke through again so, again I've taken everything back down to bare metal and rust treated it again. I've still gotta weld the sills up too.

What it looks like now;

Bumpers primed:

I went round spraying the wheels in a fresh coat of silver but then decided to give one a quick lick of black paint and its come up quite nice, so once i pick up my new steelies from Dan on here, i'll spray a full set up.

Will update as i go along. Hoping to fully prime the car in easter break and possibly get the top coat on if the weather is good,

pics were from yesterday, got bumpers on today but no pics, gotta clean a set of wheels up (I've ended up with 10 steel wheels :shock: ) so got a fair few to choose from haha, then just pass my test!

need to give it a good polish too, or even take it back a coat to give it more of a shine.

coming along nicely.

good work mate.
