Ok, just bought another polo, a 1991 facelift coupe 1.0 to be exact. The wipers work fine but only on the first two settings. Not the fastest setting. Now is this the switch or motor or something else?

It would be nice to get it sorted as it's kind of useful.

Also another question about the same car, the heater temperature nob will not fully turn. It turns freely but gets to about 1cm away from the red dot and kind of jams whilst feeling springy. I guess this is something to do with the cables but where should i look first?

regards to your switch on your 1991 facelift, you could just test the swite with a multimeter, turn it to the setting that doesnt work and see if it has a reading or not..
