For a reluctant sale is my VW Polo G40.

I had wanted one of these cars ever since I became aware of them, then I found this one, and have loved every second of the 2 ½ years of owning it! This is one of the originals, in very good condition.

I will miss this car very much when it goes, but I cannot afford to keep it, as I have a mortgage to consider now, and my new job requires me to drive a lot, and I wish not to build up a huge amount of miles on a rare classic like this. Having said that, though, I have only put 10k on the clock since owning her!

She has a years MOT for her new owner. Tax is up at the end of July 2010. I have recently serviced her, with new plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, ht leads, distributor cap, coolant……….. and so on. There is receipts for everything that has been done to this car in the service history. Some of the major works carried out include a clutch overhaul at 75k, and a Jabba Sport Supercharger service at approximately the same mileage. Other key things you would like to know of include a new timing belt at approx 100k, repaired fuel tank within the last year (they commonly leak at the base of the filler neck on these cars) and just general care and attention throughout its complete ownership. I also believe this car to have never failed an MOT!

This has been up for sale for a week or two now, and some of you may have read about the funny idle problem, WHICH I AM PLEASED TO SAY IS FIXED. it was a dirty idle control valve, so i had the throttle body off, valve out, inlet manifold off, and the whole lot cleaned up. She runs even smoother now, and G smiles are in mass quantities when behind the wheel!

Body is very good, no rust or rot, tiniest of bubbles on boot lid by window, hardly noticable. Paint work is great, no peels in laquer, and looks great after a nice polish and wax!! All panels are straight, and there is a slight dimple on the passenger door.... the kind that happens when a neighbouring parked car opens their door, into yours!

The good:

•Starts everytime

•Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser > linked to remote central locking (alarm has remote alert device to tell you if the alarm is activated)

•Electric windows

•Front fogs

•Electric boot release switch

•Ipod stereo connection

•Quick release steering wheel

•Masses of service history

•Spare keys and alarm fobs

•Storage tray in boot

•Refurbed and unmarked 14” alloys

•New brake pads

•Engine is completely standard

•Koni shocks and springs, lowering the car 40mm

•Factory sunroof – no leaks!

•Tinted sun strip on windscreen

•EU tail light (replaces the white reverse light with a red fog – makes the rear of the car symmetrical – standard UK one provided for MOT’s

•New suspension top mounts fitted

•Black, unmarked interior

•Drivers seat bolsters NOT torn, and still firm

•Wind deflector thingys (at top of opening door windows - means you can have window open a bit when raining, and stay dry lol)

•Halogen headlight bulbs, and tinted effect units

•Stubby aerial

•interesting front splitter - unknown origin

•All electrics work

•….and lots more that I cant think of right now.

The bad:

•Front tyres probably have a couple of thousand miles left on them

•One speaker doesn’t work, but I will look into this! Hopefully just a connector fallen off.

•The horn has a loose conection, but i will have a look at this. (it passed the MOT though)

Will, I'm not in a rush to sell her, specially at the moment with the sunshine we are having! I love this car in the sun! Good thing is I'm not doing business miles in her at the mo, so mileage is not shooting up. just clocked over 110400 this week. PM me and maybe we can sort something out long term :)
