Wooh Polo owner again

Featured Replies

Bought my new car last night. Its a metalic black VW Polo 16v on a V plate, same age as my HDi. Its got 85700 on the clock with a full service history (but it is due a service with a cam belt). Its standard bar the stupid plates, ghey MOMO wheels and the tints. Engine looks real clean bar a leaky rocker cover. Supprisingly all the electrics work. Its got a long ish MOT and a months tax bit its only £120 for a year.

On the drive home she runs well, pulls smoothly through the revs (up to 4k anyway) and had absolutely no problem keeping up with Roony Ks 14. 8v

Gotta say I forgot how bad the polo seats are for me, my old polo had a golf VR6 leather interior in it within a week of me buying it and they seem to sit alot lower and further back so it wont be long before I buy another set.

Anyway I paid £1200 for it.

Photos.

Plans are firstly giving her a good clean and getting the belt done.

Gonna swap my stereo out the pug into the polo.

Then roll the arches and drop it 80mm onto a set of BMW E30 BBS rims with non stretched tyres (195/45R15s FTMFW)

The exterior is getting a debadged grill, bump strips removed, fully smoothed boot and maybe the front tints removed.

Engine wise shes upgrading to V power from the first time I fill her up and hopefully getting a full exhaust including manifold, a BMC DIA and a chip.

Interior will get left alone bar a decent alarm with RCL and some golf seats.

Oh the reg is almost the same as my pug V836KBA and V891DLA, the car is going to be called Valerie

OK todays little update, was gonna try and wash it but theres no point doing it in the rain, maybe tomorrow

valerie looks tasty man

Cheers buddy, shes the best valver I've loked at and substantially cheeper than than some of the others too so imo i got a bargain.

Right today I've been getting on with little bits, I was gonna de-strip the sides but didnt have alot of tar remover so I decided to do the boot instead. I realised I'm a proper de-badging freak, I own a hair dryer but it lives in my tool box and only ever does cars lol. Both came off nice and easy, the 16v badge hardly even left a sticky mark.

I also removed the wiper arm but haven't done a bung yet. I'm gonna do an invisible de-wiper like i have on my pug, I just need my new plates to come so i can cut a bit of the old ones to do it. I tried swapping over my bee sting aeriel but the pug uses a much larget thread than the polo.

Next job was removing the previous owners shoddy and not working alarm, it was held in with about a hundred cable ties and several rolls of insulating tape but I've traced all but 5 wires (out of about 30) and i know half of whats left are central locking which incidentially i managed to kill by shorting 2 wires while cutting them both at the same time. stupid i know. anyway piccies now.

Washed it. (finally) shame about the rain comming down immediately after i finished. Makes me realise how badly the car needs decent wheels and lowering.

Oh DHL shoved a card through my door today for my low entry jack, 80mm minimum lift height should happily get under a polo with anything up to a 100mm drop.

The other good news is that my best mate is ordering me a FK grille as a 3 month late birthday present and I think I've sorted VR6 leathers

Just a quick update (no pics today sorry)

Bee sting aeriel is on.

Been filled up with V power.

Got wiring for an ISO conector to fix the mess the previous owner left.

Ordered a set of aero twin wipers.

Got nearly £200 worth of service parts in the boot.

Ordered a microscan alarm with dual zone microwave and two stage shock.

Booked in for the dyno on wednesday afternoon to give me a baseline figure for mods so I gotta get the belt done before then. Anyone got any guesses on what its gonna make, std engine, running v power, recent service and 85800miles

nice! the 4th pic in the first post the way you've parked it makes it look like its trying to make friends with your pug haha!

Right a little update for the last few days.

Bee sting aeriel is on.

New air filter was pink, almost too nice to shut away in the air box.

Club polo sticker is on but its poor quality (hence bent letters)

Got rear plate from car audio security in hayes and I'm dead impressed, best quality pressed plate I've ever seen.

Bosch areo twins turned up.

As did the alarm.

Righty ho, its update time for my weekends toils, I feel like I've done so much and so little at the same time. Got a huge list of jobs that I've started and not finished, heres the run down:

Remove rear wiper motor - Done

Fit reversing camera - erm, i looked at it and it dont fit and I have no sensible way of enlarging the wiper hole to take the camera. I will blag a hole cutter before next weekend to finish the job.

Boot popper - decided ill do it when i do the camera

Smooth boot - bought some fiberglass and see above.

Buy and cut down carbon letter front plate - Done and fitted

Fit alarm - got the siren in and ran the wiring into the car but thats as far as i got cos i need to buy a better C/L interface.

fix scratches all over rear bumper - Done

Solder in ISO loom and fit stereo - Done it works, i has tunes yay.

Fit door speakers - done, easy peasy

peel side strips - done but theres still glue laft from 2 of them

Wash clay and wax - done but it took me ages, 2 hours to clay the whole car but it feels so much better for it.

Clean interior - Done

Tint side repeaters - Done but i think I've gone a little dark and the previous owner had broken the clips.

Find tunnel and take engine all the way to 7k - Done, sounds awesom but needs a zorst.

Anyway the important bit, pictures.

After just a wash
