1983 Mk2 Polo Saloon

Featured Replies

Only posted a few times on here but thought i'd put up a few pics of what i've been upto with a polo saloon i picked up. I was actually looking for a solid mk1 golf shell at the time and had money set aside for it, but couldn't find one anywhere and the funds were slowly disapearing so needed something. This one came up on a local forum, no T&T but pretty much solid bar a hole under the rear seat, bought it with the intention of welding up the hole and putting it through a mot to sell it on.

When i got it:

Fixed the hole:

Changed out the bogging interior for the coupe S effort:

And a wee steering wheel:

now at this point i insured it ready to take it for an mot but had a wee idea to re-spray it matt black as the paintwork wasn;t the best and the bonnet and boot had already been sprayed matt black.

Started to rub the body down. Also bought some 13 x 7 classics, and painted one to see what it would look like (first ones are 13 x 6)

I tried some matt black but didn;t like it so went for somethign a bit different, still matt tho:

Started to put it back together:

This one shows the colour a bit better in the sun:

This is how it sits now, needing a wash but ready for an mot:

As far as i know it has a PhilJ it on it, not sure on the height tho, regardless it's too high for me, the front shocks seem very stiff, these may free up once i drive it around a bit but thinking i might just go for the 90mm kit with 10mm lowering caps.

Engine wise it has the 1.3 with a weber carb, still needs setup but runs and idles fine.

Thats it for now.

Cheers

Danny
