Which Should I Choose If I Go For Coilovers , Is There Much Difference ?

Most Likely Between JOM Or TA TECHNIX ...

They're all budget coilovers and will all give a rubbish ride so just go with the cheapest ones.

Go for some FK's if you can get the cash together matey

mine definately got harher as i raised them as the springs get more compressed so less movement.

Raceland are probably the cheapest you'll get. find the guy from belgium on ebay and offer him 150 for them and he should accept it.

Do You Not Need To Compress Any Springs Or Anything Like That , I'm Already Lowered On Springs And Shocks . I've Read The Haynes Manual And It Seems Like Mostly Nut And Bolt Type Job But Still Not Too Sure , Dont Want To Do It Until I'm Sure What I'm Doing .

When you slam it, you're not going to get a far better ride from anything unless you start spending £500+ .. Plus its pretty much a fact, the lower you go, the better the ride is..

Right mate, in all honesty, the rears are a complete piece of cake. Should take you no longer than 20minutes tops, providing you've got all the usual tools. The fronts were abit of a headache for me, but not by much. I woulld recommend you pop down to gsf or eurocarparts, and buy yourself two new top mounts for the front coilovers :) I didnt have to look at the haynes manual, just had a quick five minute flick through the guide on uk-polos (tigerstyle.co.uk/phpBB3), its a very good guide, i would recommend you use that instead of your haynes manual.

i raised my car yesterday.. pretty certain i was compressing the springs as its got harder to do the higher i went up.

you twist the nut to make it go up which pushes the springs into the top mounts. makes the springs more compressed and makes your car sit higher. loosen the nut to the bottom and the springs will be uncompressed. then the car will sit lower.

correct me if I'm wrong.

If a spring is 1 foot long when uncompressed, ie. just sitting there doing nothing, then you pick it up, and with a hand at either end, squeeze the spring together, that is compressing it. doing this will make the spring shorter.

The shorter or more compressed the spring, the lower the car will sit.

With coilies, the top of the spring sits in the top mount, which is like your hand, and the bottom of the spring sits on the adjuster (car dependant) which is like your other hand. When you wind the adjuster up, its like squeezing your hands together.

why do people think that lowering or highering coilovers effects how compressed the springs are?

you still have the same weight on them, the only thing that changes is the position of the adjuster which moves the bottom of the spring higher which in turn lifts the top of the spring up by the same height, so if the adjuster is down near the bottom the spring will be just as compressed as if the adjuster was up at the top. the spring stays the same length.

you may of been compressing the spring while you were adjusting them while the car was jacked up but that's just because you are taking up the slack caused by the dampers being extended while the car is jacked up. your spring will only become uncompressed when the weight is taken off it (ie if you the car is jacked up).

the only thing that really changes is the amount of the damper that you use, and yes this will make a difference mate. if you have the springs right down it will have more pressure on the dampers and they will be working harder than if you had the springs set higher up the shock

Got some JOM coilovers from ebay, for the price i think there pretty darn good.

While on the topic of coilovers, what the review on koni coilovers? i know they dont go as low as some budget coilovers, but its for a dialy so i dont want a very harsh ride...

Fk highsports use koni shocks iirc and they are more than comfrtable for my daily that's no too low, I have had cheap and they were uncomfortable!

also got some JOMs through today also for a 6n2. surely the lower to the ground the adjust goes, then the lower it will sit?
