Well the Polo (Fry) is now off the road.

its had 2 years of merciless thrashing and saxo bashing!

Insurance ran out the day before my 19th birthday on the 28th march.

Took it over Hartside with a couple of friends in civics.

Now that the car is off the road ad is in need of a new engine, I'm planning on making it into a total road weapon.

It has a standard engine with a head gasket that is now totally gone and will cost me 300 quid to replace.

Lowering springs and a 3 point harness are first on the list for next week.

Fry is totally stripped out, it has one bucket seat and thats about it for the interior.

I made some bonnet raisers to aid engine cooling, with a handfull of washers on the bonnet bolts. subtle but i think it looks good.

Standard engine (1.4 8v), suspension, and wheels (minus the paint) =]

Straight through side exit exhaust with a decat.

Glad you're getting lowering springs, although I'd recommend coilovers.

Lowering springs are really going to make your car into a "road weapon"?

If you're going along the fast road route, you really need to sort your brakes first, 280mm G60 conversion ideally, or at least uprated valver brakes.

Don't forget to upgrade to braided hoses while you've got the calipers off.

Then you'll need to rebuild the suspension properly, using poly bushes and maybe even stitched wishbones.

This then needs to be coupled with a proper set of adjustable coilovers and an ARB, even if it's just the standard valver one.

Proper strut braces will help you put the power down out of the corners too, but as with everything, it all comes down to the few cm's of rubber that seperates your car from the road, the correct tyre choice is vital. I wouldn't go for Toyo R888's or Yoko's option either, personally i'd stick to a set of decent road tyres, unless you've got a couple sets of alloys to swap about depending on conditions.

Also, I have a 1.8 20v turbo in my 6n running alot more power than you and I don't have any cooling issues, even in traffic.

uhm not for me i dont think you should race spec it until youve got some power under the hood or youll get laughed at at the lights lol

Found a valver engine i would like to put in and as for the suspension i really cant afford coilies yet.

tyres i'm not fussed on, i raced caterhams and track prepped clios for three years so my drivings not that shabby and its fun to drive on the edge =]

the bonnet raisers were a bit of a boredom thing, i'm well aware they wont help =]

and veedubs is a decent scrappy but its expensive imo!

the vts was driven by your typical, the further i lean back the more aerodynamic i am and i go quicker prick who i left round hartside the other day.
