A bit of a change to the 6n2

Featured Replies

Yeah I'm currently looking for xenon kits for it. Yeah I think its the tint thats making them look more warn and dirty than they are. Looking out the windows they dont look too bad lol

Ebay mate can get them for £33 inc postage from China etc but they're still good, i have had 2 sets.

Any chance of a link in this topic here Dazza? http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=191676

This is looking quality 8-) I think you should go with the bonnet thing in the potatochop, looks a lot more smooth etc. This has masses of potential to be a stunner, keep it up mate

Thanks, I'm really thinking about the bonnet thing, tomorrow the part above the grill will be changing from silver to black to make ot look more part of the grill than a bar of bumper, then I will look into extending the bonnet slightly to match it all up perfect.

Wont be easy and will take alot of working out to make it look right and flush, but would well be worth it.

Hopefully Dotz/POTN will get back to me soon letting me know when the new alloys are going to be here!

i like the black bits on the doors and yer the bonnet would be hard work but it would look sooo good :)

If you could remove the circle from the bonnet, and from the top of the bar thing it would alot better, not as good as the Pshop but its alot more achievable.

just wondering m8. whats hapnin with them SE wheels when the new ones come? :unibrow:

I've sold the wheels on ebay delivered for £150, had no idea what they were worth, have about 6mm tread left on them.

Was I a fool or is that a decent sell?

hve no idea mate lol. personally i wouldnt have paid that. you can get the gti's for a little bit more. but i supose it had the tyres aswell.

someone more experienced will be ableto tell you;)

btw. any chance of a tut on how you done the door black? it looks nice:D

The door blacking is pretty simple, basically key the area down with some 800 wet n dry.

Mask out the area, using fine lining tape and masking paper.

Spray with black plastic replica paint, I use a product made by a company called "Kent" however Kent only sell to the trade, they do amazing products, they have the best: sealer, wax, polish, fillers, laquer, aerosol primer, plastic repair and underbody sealers on the market!

However I think Upol do a plastic repair aerosol spray that should give you that very fine texture you want for the plastic look.

Well after almost everyone agreed the front end didnt look right, I decided to make a start on smoothing the bonnet and making the grill fit in more today.

Let me know what you think

Finished, obviously the bonnet still need spraying, but you get the idea:

Now though the next big thing is what to do with the bonnet, I'm kinda thinking taking the black right up the bonnet would look quite good, along similar lines to the B&B polo:

What do people think? The lines on the bonnet meet perfectly to where the grill currently finishes and could look really smart, however it could also make the car look over the top and tacky?

Please could someone take the second to bottom picture of my car and photoshop it, go up the bonnet with black following the natural lower line that runs up the bonnet from where the grill meets. Thank You

i would suggest photoshopping it onto your car or get some one to do that for you so you can get a good idea of what it's going to look like..

Yeah I cant do it, but as above have asked

I think that looks alot better :) I definately not keen on the idea to continue the black up the bonnet. I think that keeping it silver would look a lot better and not try hard. lol.

id just keep it silver m8. thin it would look ott. i think you should repaint the black parts of the bumper, the new bit looks such a better shade than the bumper

Looks a lot better with that new bonnet 8-)

Dont do the black bonnet imo

Here's a quick chop to help you make up your mind:

Doesn't look too bad imo

Thanks for doing the photoshop, but think I'm going to keep it sliver. Going a little of the OEM look I was going for I guess

Blended in the front lip and smoothed off the front strips this afternoon.

Still alot of work yet to do before the front end is how I want it, but its getting there!

I'm really liking what you have done! I saw this bumper kit ages ago and saved a pic of it as I liked the idea then. Its looking even better with the slight changes that you have made to it. Good job :)

Also glad that you are not going for the black bonnet! Didnt like that idea at all.

Looks better now, got it done quickly too!

Glad you're keeping the bonnet silver.

I reckon the black area around the numberplate would look better if a shiny, more glossy, paint was used.

+1

match it to the top of the bumper

Cheers for the comments peeps, 1 thing I'm really not happy with now is the headlights! They look so dated!

Once you start this sort of project theres no stopping hehe!

bloody hell it look so much better now :D good work

cars looking nice man. you done enything to the back? really like the rear:D

I'm wating to see these. very intrested:D

GTi projectors are a must :-)

Also to finish off the front end try a new plate without the big black scews.

It's minor but it always looks better when plates are stuck on with double sided tape!

Havnt done anything at the back yet, will be smoothing the rubbing strip out on the rear bumper, and will look at changing the exhaust.

Not sure about shiny black for the front bumper, however I can use a darker black spray so its not quite as grey.

I would love a set of GTi projectors, just cant afford any and they never seem to come up on ebay!

Agreed with the number plates, these are jobs Ill do once I've finished everything else.

Stayed after work this evening to do a load more smoothing, have the fillerwork finished on both the front and rear bumpers now!

Will get them primed then painted sometime soon!
