Well the rear bumper isnt just something you can buy off the shelf I have constructed it but no one has noticed what I have used.

Ok well I know I said I wasnt going to do this and I'm sure alot of people wont like it, but I'm really pleased with the results. I think the red pinstripe really sets the black off and blends the black on the bonnet in perfectly.

I'm sure not everyone will agree however

These pictures just dont really do it any justice if I'm honest

oh and If anyone is looking at the paint finish, its still to be flatted and polished yet. It was only sprayed and baked literally 2 hours before these pictures

I'll reserve judgement on the bonnet until the other bits are finished, but as I mentioned before you will definitely need to go glossier on the black bumper paint! Even more so now.

100% agree, the bumper area will also be going more gloss, Ill do it at the same time as I do the bumper silver so theres no dirty masking lines

This has come on leaps and bounds in such a short time Glad you smoothed it! The b pillars could do with being carried on into the door shuts so you don't see any silver, I'm not so sure about the bonnet but if you like it then who am I?? Think I your keeping the black bonnet and red pinstripe it would only be a good thing to get gti red rubber trim that goes around the bottom an up the sides of the grill! Would give the bonnet continuation, also doing the centre of the bumper more glossy is a great idea!

i really think an extended badboy bonnet would make this look SO much better, the VW badge sits too low from the bonnet and looks like its all sagging down and i think a bonnet extension will sort that

My this has changed a lot in a short space of time. I'm not really sure about the bonnet, but if you like it then that is all that matters. Can't wait to see the finished example. :)

After getting up at 4am to get to work and spray the bumper and skirts yesterday! The bodywork is really getting there now!

Still no wheels for another 2 weeks yet apparently after POTN have messed up my order, but everything else is getting there now.

Bumpers are all smoothed, with the front grill area now shiny black to match the bonnet and roof.

Rear bumper has been smoothed

Skirts sprayed and fitted

I'm having a nightmare trying to get a decent picture on my phone in this sun, but should give you an idea of how its coming on. Cant wait for the new wheels though they will make a massive difference!

Its looking good indeed mate still un sure bout the bonnet but no dout about it amazing work its only been what 2 weeks ?

I'm with you on that one. Can't fault the ambition and trying something different but imo it looks wrong. It looks to blatantly obvious its got a different bumper on it. Example, Ash's 6N with the 6N2 bottom half was modernised but it all tied in very well. It looked like it could have come out of the factory like that. Where as this looks like its had a different bumper stuck to it. Don't get me wrong I think it could work if you went back to the drawing board with it. But as it stands, for me, it just looks wrong.

At the end of the day if he likes it does it matter ?

Let me know your opinions good and bad, I have a feeling there may well be more bad than good with this one
