Auto union, now known as Audi made the Type D in like 1937 or something has an estimated value of £15 million. Thought it was quite fascinating. Top speed of about 200 mph in that date is quite impressive imo. Not usually into 'old' cars. There's only one original in exsitance and about 4 more, but made a year or 2 later

You could argue that each years F1 car, with over £15M in development each year in each car (Toyota had the biggest budget known about, it was around £100M per year) is more expensive

I think Toyota had three cars plus spares, so that's about £33M per car

But if you're on about the most expensive production cars (currently in production!)...

1) VAG (Bugatti Veyron)

2) VAG (Lamborghini Reventon)

3) Ferrari (Enzo)

4) Pagani (Zonda C12 F)

the drum brakes all round would scare me long before the lack of roof

I swear a Ferrari Dino or something was bought for around £22 million at a charity auction.

It obviously isn't the most expensive car to buy normally, but definately one of the most expensive general purchases of a car!

On the last series of top gear chris Evans said he'd bought a Ferrari at an auction, which at the time was the most expensive car paid for at auction or somthing like that.

It's going up for auction if what I read is right (I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong ) with an estimated price tag of £15M, the current most expensive car sold at auction is a Bugatti Type 41 (£5.5M ish)

Last time an Auto Union Type D was sold, it was found to have the incorrect chassis numbers and engine numbers and the auction was cancelled (I think it went for $11M in the 70's or 80's)

A Ferrari 250 GTO sold a couple years ago for £19m.

Classic cars are selling for 5+ times more than the current most expensive 'production' cars..

The Veyron is around £1m but Ferrari's are selling for £5-6m yearly.

Thing is with the Veyron, is that it will depreciate, whereas the Enzo for example..

List price was around £660k and now 5 year old examples with a couple thousand miles are selling for up a million..

I'd hate to be sat in sat at 200mph, especially with them wheels.

Yeah am sure it was a ferrari california , something like 6 million euros he payed for it
