need some help with my amp and sub. I've got my amp wired up and its grounded but istill cant seem to get it to work. it doesnt have any power going to it.

have you wired up the remote? also the ground needs to be a good connection ie sand away the paint to get to bare metal.

yer done that and its on bare metal thats why I'm so stuck lol. just cant seem to get it to work.

in that case try wiring the remote straight from the car battery pos. as a temporary check to see if it turns on. Only other thing i can think off is either the inline fuse or one of the fuses in the amp itself might be blown.

cheers for the help guys, ill have a look to see if my head unit has a setting on it and thn if that still doesnt work see about wiring it straight from the battery.

does your headunit have a wire for an electric aerial? seen afew people get the two wires mixed up.

i tried to put the remote wire straight to the battery and that worked but then when i connected back to my head unit it just went back to how it was with no power. and bothe the wires are labeled so dont think i have them mixed up. I've got a kenwood head unit but really cant sem to see if theres any settting on it to change

any ideas??

alright so what you could do is wire the remote to the black power wire going into the headunit. pretty sure that would work but try it first by just touching the wires. if this works just cut the black and then just get somehting like these Link and reattach the two ends of the black power wth the remote from the amp. or just bodge it like i have done with tape haha

yeah mate make sure the earth is good i blew my first amp that way fuses in line and box remote cable wired to the stero correctly??

kingdean: my ground is a good one i think my mate had it grounded in the same place and his was fine. i think the problem is with this annoying remote wire lol!! thanks for the help tho

just put two of the wires in one side of the crimp and one in the other. doesnt matter which way round. wack some tape around the crimp afterwards to make sure the wires dont come loose as they sometimes do. but make sure it works first before cutting lol.

You can easily blow the fuse in the Kenwood Headunit for the 'remote on' if the wire grounds when the unit is on. Check that you have power going to the remote lead with a test lamp or led etc. An easy solution to your problem is to tap into an accessory power supply that turns on when you turn your key ( ie Stereo Turn On ). You can also put a switch and fuse in-line too.............. extra protection and the choice of being able to switch off the amp anytime.

chees for the help guys did it yesterday. ended up wiring the amp remote sraight into the remot turn of going into the hed unit not coming out if that makes sense?? and alls good :)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but which accessory power supply would you use? I've got a 6n2, and when my amp is wired in it stays on all the time, even when the key isn't in the ignition! Not sure if there is a problem with the Remote wire or if I've just done something wrong?!

Its the accessory wire coming from the ignition switch. (thick red i think but not sure!) By far the best way is to have it wired to the stereo though. Iso connectors This is a pic of the iso connectors you should have. (only A and B are used) Pin 5 in B is the remote wire output. Hope this helps! Dan
