anyone run these on standard seats (GT)... bolted through to the rear seat belt mounts? is it dangerous? i've thought about the annoyance of needing to move around etc when coming to junctions, but i still want a set ahah. Will it get through MOT like this? any opinions etc welcome, photos if you run this set up aswell. nice one, rob.

I've got a gt that's running standard seats with sparco three point harnesses using the rear seat belt mounts, there really easy to fit, and yeh it should pass it's mot like this, depends on the garage I guess though.

I wouldn't use them for a daily driver. You either have to run them slack so you have enough movement to lean forward to see round things which means they are not doing the job right or have them tight and then you can't see round the corners.

It has been mentioned they could be dangerous in 2 ways.

1st has been mentioned. I believe it is because if you run them to the lower rear seat point, when you hit something head on the belt will try and push you down due to the angle its at. The belts should be fitted so that the rear attachments are horizontal.

The 2nd reason is if you roll your car. With normal belts you are given a degree of movement which (if you're lucky)allows you to move out of the way of the collapsing roof. A harness will not allow this movment which means the belt that is suppose to save you might kill you.

A Harness, a proper 'bucket' seat and a cage with harness bar are all things that should really be used together. on their own (bar the seat) they can cause trouble!

yeh point 1 said by max and lscariot is called submarining i got told about it by an accident investigator and it shit me up, so i ended up getting fixed back recliners.

as for moving around easily, just get a set of safety devices pre tensioners usually found on scroth harnesses, its what i roll and makes it easy for me to reach to my stereo and my center console to grab my lighter!

if you get fixed back buckets rock it matey, otherwise be very careful driving around with 2 piece seats and fixed harnesses
