epic story ending in tears;(

got a car 2 weeks ago.

it was a mk2 bready, not great condition but i coudlnt wait to get driving her.

insurance came and went to get my tax!

anyways got it all sorted and stuck a 10er in!

i thought i would go and clean her up so paid a fiver to jet wash her.. on my way home....

i was driving down a 40mph road and some one flagged down a car which was two infront of me, i saw this and slowed down practicaly coming to a stop, as well as the car infront.. checked my rear view mirror and saw this mazda 3 coming up pretty darrn fast.. :o :o :o then the inevitable happened he swerved and slammed into the back of me spinning me into a 180 clipping the fiesta infront.. the mazda ending up going head on into the car coming the other way.

next thing i know I'm surronded by police and paramedics, to my horror cutting my roof off and doing my windows in

;(.. ended up in hospital with a doctor pocking me in the neck and said I'm ok to go home. even though my nack and back are hurting.

i literlay drove her about 3 miles! :(

I'm so gutted.. can any one tell me what are the does and donts to carry out now. cheers :)

looks all good here

Make sure you see your gp for some after care mate if it's hurting and take some pain relief in the mean time! Did you hit the car in front? If they are claiming it could scupper your no claims but go for it and claim off the car that hit you! If you feel bad enough not to work (if you do work) then the first two days are usually self certified, from then on you need a sick note off the doc and then you need tolook at recouping your loss of earnings which may result in a decent pay out if your lucky and then you can start again and get another car!

i did hit the car in front but only as a result from being spun 180 from the car behind.. i practiacly stopped before the mazda hit me.. thats what i was thinking about doing, my gp is just across the road :).. phone in work tomorrow and let them know. thanks mate :) any thing else i shoud or shoudlnt do?

Don't do anything strenuous! Ring up insurance and tell them your havin time off work or whatever coz you are in pain! You have to cover your back on this one because if they think your pulling there leg they won't help u as too many people claim whiplass and actually don't have it but u run a highrisk of actually having it, if the go offers you a pescription for painkillers take it! It might cost abit of cash but atlesst you have more evidence to back up that your in pain etc! Oh and your still liable for the car your car hit aswell! Sorry! Glad you are alright tho!

thats so unlucky.

as said before, go to the doctors and get checked, keep your reciepts from any prescriptions/money paid out, as you can claim them back from the insurance. keep your insurance clear of any changes and make sure they know your off work and in pain. Your insurance might want to send you for a medical. go for it, it all goes in your favour if you go for a settlement.

I'm in the middle of a claim against a german lorry driver. just think yourself lucky that the car that hit you is british. its took 2.5 years and hes only just accepted liability!!!! F***in nightmare!!!

thanks :) going to the gp later today. neck and back are killing me now though. :(

Sucks to hear that mate, sorry to hear about the lil polo you must be gutted. But as said just tell the GP about everything you're feeling be it the smallest pain as it could end up coming back and causing pain at a later date.

Go easy mate

added a few pics :(

thats a bad one mate, could of been alot worse. glad your not to injured, a car can be replaced.

Wow thats a mess mate... at least you're here to post about it!

Will you be breaking it? I need wings (been looking for ages now) and a few other bits I can see in the pile.

look on the bright side, you siad you wanted to rat the car, someones done it for you! At least your ok and you'll get a good payout which will probably enable you to buy a better condition mk2 anyways!

Dont be shy about telling your gp about any aches and pains. I got smacked into ten years ago by an un-insured driver. felt fine at the time, but the past 3 or so years I've had to have regular physio on my neck and back due to pains probably caused by the smash

argh bleeding heck mate, that sucks chode!

i saw the first pic and wondered what was wrong, then the rest came up and gave me a tad of a shock

can't believe the roof got chopped!

good luck with it all, hope you can find a nice replacement once you're all fixed yurself

this may sound strange but in fact thats a bit of a blessing. you need to moan like fuck for months about your neck and back, take as much time off work as you can, taxis to doctors etc and keep all reciepts, if your mum has to take time off work to give you a ride to the hospital, anything that costs money they should pay up for. i was hit by a woman i was overtaking swerving infront of me a few years ago on my £500 suzuki 125 and i recieved just over 12k. all i got was a sprained ankle but i winged like fuck to the insurance and went through the medicals etc. it took 2 years for them to pay up, but they paid for absoloutly everything, mums loss of earnings, my loss of earnings. etc etc etc. whiplash and back pain pays more than a sprained ankle too!! it may take a while and your no claims may be up in smoke for hitting the bloke infront but imagine what you will be driving when you get a big fat cheque through the door :)

also, when they offer you a settlement, do not accept it, keep refusing and they usually bump it up . i was first offered 3k and refused, 6 months later came a 5k interim cheque with a letter saying more is to come when they have decided how to settle things, then another 3 months later i got another for just over 7k. you deserve every penny you get mate so screw the fuckers out of it. ill bet you paid a bomb for your insurance too yea? time to get it back pal!

sorry to hear about your shizz and good luck...

i will see if they will let me take parts off the car after they have checked it all over.

for some reason they are taking it to a garage to see if it can be saved??? i mean come on the roof has been chopped off!

but silly that, due to what they are 'worth' breadvans will get written off at the first sign of any damage! a mate of mine was hit in the rear quarter which was a bit squished, and that was a write-off. surely yours is nothing but a write-off (i'm sorry to say :()

btw dude i've just noticed you're from Cardiff, whereabouts did you get crashed into?

Ye cool well let us know if you can break it and drop me a pm in case I miss the thread please mate. Need wings, the plastic trim from the sunroof handle and single light grille!

The Fiesta will claim it's damage off your insurance company, who will then pass the claim back to the Mazda driver, for the Fiesta and your car.. And the car he hit head-on.

Claim whiplash too

thats the sweetest car going in my opinion.. just could take years for it all to come through though... such a nightmare :(

Ouch! Looks a belter. Glad you're ok though. Goes to show how strong the car actually is as the subbox looks fine ;)

Get checked out by a doctor defiantely. They can give you a note for work to make things easier.

I went through one of those no win no fee solicitors and got £4200 when i got rear ended by a Royal mail van 4 years ago. Had to go see a specialist as my back was killing and then 6months of physio to try and make it better. Its not 100% now either. i claimed for lots of stuff too as we were skint buying lots of stuff we wouldnt usually need.
