 i love the south park lysholm valver paint sketch. It does actually help to picture it. What is the issue with the double ribbed belt at the alternator?

Looks like this should be awesome. What shell are you looking at, another coupe?

We were just wondering if the alternator would have enough drive. The belt is plenty tight enough so it should do.

Just another mk3 coupe, still tornado red. I think a reshell is in order really. This is Kerrlys old one and if you remember it was crash repaired. The inner wing has a big weld line through it and as i spotted yesterday the rear turret has a crease in it. The front brace/radiator bar takes 4 people to get it on as the front is so skewed. I've found a shell for 300 taxed tested and rust free. Just got to find the time to go get it.

That does sounds like the best option to be quite honest. If i was going to running a powerful engine i'd want it through an arrow stright shell if possible and sorting the rust on a crash damaged shell (especially on just a mk3 polo) seems like a bit of a waste. Good luck with it all though. Really wanna hear this running.

Just about had enough of this now. Been having major problems.

Scrapped the shell this weekend as it was full of rust. Looking at one this weekend coming as its local, looked after and without the scene tax!

But, engine is proving an arsehole of a job.

I have zero compression on cylinder 1. It hasnt been honed properly and is just going loose all boost into the sump!

Also the charger bracket is a load of wank. The company that did it did not listen to anything i told them so when any tension is applied to the belt it just bends and puts everything under stress. If i cant fit it through there letter box tonight it shall go through the window until they get it right.

Its really starting to grind on me now. I've decided that i'll throw another £500-£1000 at the engine and if it doesnt want to play ball i'll sell up. That will take me up to nearly £3500 on the engine alone and at that point its becoming rediculous.

I want it done but i cant help but think that it isnt going to happen at the moment, especially being redundant. I might take a break from it and come back to it at a later date.

Wellllllll.... I'm struggling to iron out the lumps but it runs!

Photos and video tomorrow. Engine bay is very very very tight!

It'll be at inters saturday and sunday, that is if all goes well on the few days on the road and the long drive up!

looking forward to a running vid of this!

The shell did take a good pounding a few years back. I didn't post these pics so if would never effect owners after me trying to sell it but now its scrapped:

Any updates......

Yeah, well sort of, I'm trying to get the videos up on here but cant find my camera lead.

Its gone badly. Something was wrong majorly as it started to leak oil from over cyl 4 from the head, ran rough and never recovered.

it did make epic amounts of boost and a g40 clutch i had whilst i sourced a helix paddle was no good at all. It just slipped in every gear on the flat. So its back in bits, ther charge cooler will go and be replaced with a custom ally rad and intercooler, the clutch will be sorted and a diff put in as just a start. It felt and sounded like an animal!

I have videos of it running and a quick blast up the road right before it dies!

I'm going to go all out on this one with cams, verniers, head work, clutch, custom inlet and standalone ecu from storm developments etc and see what its really good for. If the lysholm doesnt make good power despite seeing 17psi on the gauge, i'll go turbo and see what it can do then!

I'll get the videos up once i have the right lead for my camera!

I've also bougth some genuine carbon fibre bucket seats and a full cage for it now, so i'll board the back out get my carbon door cards in and work out what needs flocking!

Anyway, it went in, it ran, it was fun but the head gave out and its back in bits! All fun and games!

Sounds bloody awsome man

once its all sorted need some driving videos :)

how fast was this then?

X2 man that sounds soo good watched it 3 time lol :)

Well not a lot has happened recently, iv'e pulled the head apart and it was a snapped valve spring?! never had it before but hey never mind.

New total seal rings and race bearings are on he way from germany, i have got some oil jets for the block to keep piston temps down and i have finally taken some pics of my new carbon seats!

8-)

Just need to order the new clutch and a few odd bits of pipe work, make a few brackets and tidy a few bits up and it will be rebuild time all over again!

Roll cage has turned up in kit form so i can start planning where bits are going to go and get on with that. DTA ecu needs the wiring loom making up and sensors buying.

so..... finally things are starting to happen again.

I'm not going to put a time for completetion on this as its going to be very very steady and exactly how i want it!

Oh and this...

and another video i found...

Just a rather brief update.

It is still on going. The block is in bits and new rods, forged pistons and full rebuild kit has been ordered.

Its going to be an over-bored AVY in an AFH bottom end. So the normal 1.4 to 1.6 conversion but fully forged and with lots of boost!

Pistons are 77.51mm, compression ratio down to 8.3:1, which might prove to be a bit low yet but we'll see. 136mm rods are going to take a while to arrive as they are custom from the states, rated at 600bhp per cylinder.

Gearbox will be an issue but I'm looking into that at the moment. Might have made an offer on something out of a car from a well known race series across the water... :ninja: but its eye watering, but 6 speed would be fun.

Um, head has been stripped and through the dishwasher today (at the mothers house while she's away!) I'm still unsure about cam profiles at the moment so i'll hold off buying them for a while.

Long story short, it died the first time due to block wash not being carried out properly and the oil pick up blocked.

But since then i have decided it will take a turn for the better and take more time and a hell of a lot more care.

I've treated it to:

Garrett Turbo

Custom inlet manifold fitted for vr6 throttle body

20vt fuel rail

4bar fpr

136mm rods

77.51mm Forged Pistons

Emerald K6

New boost pipes

Turbo manifold

Ally Radiator

Nitrous kit

Homemade short shift reduced 40%

etc

Still need to get:

Clutch

Vast amounts of wiring

Gearbox? atleast a diff

Head rebuild/ p&p with full schrick kit from bartek once decided on cam profiles

new lysholm outlet

2 air filters

service bits

braided brake lines

Rear discs

New fuel solenoid for nitrous kit

So yes, it will be all go, but I'm just fucking around with stupid bits now like painting my rocker cover! crappy phone pic

Its the colour the car will be sprayed in eventually.

Still waiting for this to turn up should be here tomorrow...

I'm off to check on the progress of the inlet tomorrow so hopefully get a picture up of that too.

But yes, its not gone and i haven't given up, its going to be stupid this time though. Most power in FWD mk3 polo? I hope so!

(has anyone spotted the main change/addition, think new small displacement vw engine)

Thats all for now!

I'm probably being stupid, but turbo and supercharged? If so your a legend.

I'm probably being stupid, but turbo and supercharged? If so your a legend.

i did wonder this too  not bein funny mate but you must work some hard graft to afford all this and the previous build

either way this just gets better :)
