I have been de-stripping my 6n today and have found that there is 2 different glues holding on my bump strips.

There is a white foamy one that pretty much all comes with the strip but the stuff thats left comes off easily witth a bit of tar remover. This is on the drivers rear strip and passenger door.

There is a thicker black foamy one that leaves half on the door and half on the strip but theres no patches where it didnt stick so i have 2 huge stripes of this stuff on the door. ITR wont really touch it, heat dosent help and I'm struggling to get it off, after a hour on a 8 inch long section its still there, what can i use to get it off. This is on the drivers door and the passenger rear quater.

Anyone got any ideas on why I've got different glues, theres no signs of accident repair

Also (and probably more importantly) how the fuck do i get this super sticky glue off.

Could try a fudge/caramel wheel on a drill. They are pretty cheap and wont damage you paintwork if used correctly.

Don't be so lazy! Get a hairdryer on it, close and very hot, you won't melt the car. Once the residue is hot you can peel it off using the ball of your thumb about 10mm at a time between blasts of heat. Takes an age and will blister your thumb but it'll be gone.

Sod that^^^ petrol a credit card type thing and a rag! Pour petrol on rag rub it into strips with rag let it soak for 30secs the attack it with a clean bit of rag and use the card to get the hard bits off!

I always use a hairdryer to get sticky stuff off a car. Why is this so wrong??? I've never ever had a problem doing it as long as its done right!!!

surely heating the glue makes it less likely to damage your paint when you pull things off?? i did it for my bumpstrips and had no problems :)

Oh and i cant see heat damaging the paint if your sensible, its not like your making it any hotter than it gets on a hot summers day

i personly found this easyer take 20 seconds

i used to believe that little heat did nothing wrong, till i fuked up my mk4 bumpstrips, with little heat.

Now on i dont risk it, found Petrol and a credit card work well.

Depends if u want to do it safely or fast.

I dont know why people try to make a job more difficult than it should be by using rags and chemicals. If you have the right tools a job is always easy.

I've realised the error of my ways now, wish someone had told me about these before.

I did one of the rear side strips today and it took me 6 minutes to get the whole thing done with photos and give the car a wipe down.

I recon i could comfortably do the whole car inside of half an hour including peeling the strips
