Andys 6n2 GTI - Coilovers fitted <3

Featured Replies

Firstly i started off with me GT. Loved the car to bits and never really thought about getting anything else. Though winter me Brock B2's took a bit of a bashing to i took them to the Wheel Clinic in Northampton to get them refurbished. Instead of getting the dished diamon cut i got them powder coated silver which to me made more sense as imo they look better and are easier to take car of.

When i took the wheels in i noticed a silver GTI in the car park and asked the guy whos it was and funnily enough it was the guy who was doing me wheels lol, i had a poke about and he said he wanted to sell it so i said i would ask about and see if anyone i knew wanted it. When i went back to pick the wheels up i saw it again although this time i swear it had a big sign above it saying buy me!!!!

Over a little pondering and weighing up what would be better i decdied to try and convince the mrs to "lend" me an undisclosed figure. Supprisingly after showing her some pictures it took 4 hours and the deal was done.

Had to wait a bit for him to sort a few bits out and to for me to get the rest of the money together but on friday i picked it up :D

Plans for the car

Basically want to keep it simple. At the moment I'm broke and owe money so it wont be hit with the lowering bat untill i have paid debts off. Hopefully, coil overs, black mirror and visors, clean up tatty roof lining, clean up the engine bay, de badge polo off the back, stubby aerial and sort splitter out.

And at the moment solve this problem lol:GTI Problem

Any help comments or opinions welcome

thanks for looking

update time, been doing uni work all morning so brain is a little fried...

DSC00067.jpg

Sanded down front splitter and gave it a coat of back to black, its not quite smooth as i want it by at least bits of fur wont get stuck on it anymore

DSC00065.jpg

Took front wheel off, in hoping to a test fit on the brocks however i dont have the thing (cant think of name) to get the adaptors off, so that halted that plan, gave all the calipers a good clean and now they look more pink than red so think that a respray will be in order shortly.

DSC00068.jpg

Gave the back badge some love, can you spot the tractor hiding in the pic lol

Had a good look and it seems like the polo and GTI badge at the back are stuck on with the sticky pad things so hopefully wont be too much of a problem to get off, will do it when i get some tar remover. Hopefully before i kill me self from this assignment

thanks

after breaking me ABS rotor i limped the car to the garage to try and get it fixed. turned out it was what i though it was bent and the seals broken so had it flattened out and re welded for 80£ so although it would have been better if i didnt do it in the first place it didnt cost as much as expected.

Any ways picture whore time with the brocks on (needs lows, dirty car, black berry pics amd still having paint on the tires)

Was hoping to fit they before i went on hols on but didnt have time so going to leave them off until i get back. Plus i know for a fact they have some nasty pot holes and speed bumps in wales so probably for the best.

Decided i was getting bored of listening to the same 6 CD's so robbed the CD player from the GT as it has an AUX port to plug me ipod in. However since doing this I've lost the use of the CD changer as the one from the GT doesnt have the slot for it to be plugged into. I dont know if its possible to get the slot for it so it will connect, will have to look into it as I'm no audio specialist.

All was going good then FML. Basically going down a road wide enough for a car to be parked on the side and two cars able to pass eachother whilst one parked. Car on otherside of the road opens their door as a box lorry is going past it, lorry has to swerve into my lane i have to swerve to avoid it and brushing the kerb with me front passenger wheel causing this.

DSC00144.jpg

Me and lorry driver proceed to have a go at stupid person who opened their door who claimed they didnt see the lorry. Person apologises and lorry driver gives me 30£ to try and cover damages which although may be silly i didnt want to take as it wasnt his fault but he insisted so i now have to take the wheel in to be done for the 3rd time lol.

Really wanted to get the car lowered before we came but am seriously glad i didnt get around to it as there are some nasty speed bumps getting into beach carparks and being pushed off the road by landrovers etc lol. Seriously dont know how people can have lowered cars in the sticks like this, if i put satnav on at the house it says please find the nearest road lol.

Not really seen much in the way of dubs just 1 black Lupo in mumbles with a moody bonnet and a faint view of a 16v corrado

I took pics with me house mates camera which i robbed but forgot to bring the charger lead so its not run out of battery lol

Thats all folks comments etc welcome :)

Its looking nice mate, its funny the exact samething happened to me just after i finished refurbing my wheels! :(

PLEASE debadge it already for the sake of mankind, thats my only criticism!

:p

  • Author

yeah i know, I'm guessing it was debadged by a previous owner then another one decided they wanted the badges back on and put them on in the wrong place lol

Looking great mate, except those badges haha.

Bit of a bugger about the alloy tho, but it was a least nice of the lorry driver to offer you £30 despite it not being his fault. There are some nice people in the world then :)

  • Author

badges will be gone when i get home from wales lol. Yeah i know lol i didnt want to take it at first as he shouldnt have really been offering me it lol should of been the other guy, but he insisted.

It's not the end of the world and the picture makes it look allot worse than what it actually is just a bugger having to change the wheels again for a week while the other one get refurbed

Yeah it is a bugger changing the wheels over for that! At least its not that bad as you say then. I'd be fuming at the guy that opened their door. Stupid people!! lol

Glad to hear about the badges coming off :D

Long overdue but got me coilovers fitted thanks to some help from a mate. Air guns ftw lol.

Got some 20mm spacers for the rear but the bolts arnt quite long enough for them to take so waiting for payday to get some even longer ones lol hopefully that should sort the stance out a bit. Front coilovers are wound all the way down and backs have a bit left on them. Car is carrying some weight in the boot so the stance aint great lol also I'm not the photographer i just point and click so am waiting for me flat mate to get back to take some proper pics
