I've been putting off getting coilovers for a while now, but after seeing how cheap you can get them on ebay (£170) I am very tempted.

Has anyone got these coilovers? They are for my 6n2 gti.

Just put my 6N on them, seem reasonable. Certainly don't go ultra low like the TA Technics, but seem better built to me. Ride is good if a little bouncy. Happy with mine for the price.

Cheap budget coilovers.

Ride will be shit, but if your not bothered then they will get you as low as most other coilovers.

Yeh the actual build quality will be fine. It's the ride quality to be worried about.

End of the day, you've got a nice car. A 6N2 GTI so why buy cheap coilovers and totally ruin the driving comfort.

I, like Pepe, have the FK Highsports and the ride is sublime in comparison to the cheaper alternatives.

Good stuff keep me updated, the JOM's are a bargain at £170, I don't think my 60mile a day motorway comute needs £500+ coilovers. I'm not gonna hit the buy it now button just yet, will save it till next week.

60 miles a day on budget coilovers isn't something I'd like to do!

They're expensive for a reason mate. It depends how long you plan on keeping your car I suppose.

fk coilovers are £450 ish.... I need money left for some pimpin wheels too. So is the better ride of the fk's worth £280 more than the vom's - as i said I do a 60mile round mtrway commute daily, i'm not gonna be breaking speed records on roundabouts.

I'll be keeping the car probably another 18months at most, really want a mk5 r32 in the future

Id say the ta technix were actually better at holding the road in the twisties than the fks as there alot stiffer! But I do about 30 miles a day and I could not wait to get out of my car by the end of it! But enough people have them and like them so maybe were just sissys lol but in all fairness try get a ride in someones car with budget coilovers then try get a ride in non budgets and you will see a huge difference!

I would now put at the very least fk highsports on any other car I own in the future let's put it that way! I think it's well worth it, I was just impatient and it cost me! You can always keep your old suspension and when you sell up swap it back and sell your expensive coilovers! Seen fks go second hand for over £300! So it's not as if your risking loosing all that cash!

It's not about breaking speed records on roundabouts.

It's about the tiniest little ridge of bump in the road which is magnified by so much on the cheaper coilovers. There is literally no give in them whatsoever so the ride is extremely crashy.

Wave goodbye to ever using your drinks holder if you want budget coilovers for a start haha!

Whats a good mid range pack then, like say 250-300? and what makes?

before my polo i had a seat leon FR on Jamex coilovers. some people see these as budget and refer to them as the same as vmaxx, gmax, ta technixs, JOM etc but with different stickers on them. i LOVED them on that and did a LOT of driving in it. i would definately have them again

the only way i can see it being any different in the polo is that the overall car is a LOT lighter so may bounce more.

the way i see it, if you want "lows" youve gotta expect a harder/firmer ride

That isn't mid range, that's bottom end.

Mid range is 450 - 650 which includes the FK highsports.

Upper range will consist of the likes of KW Varient coilovers etc put that's touching almost a grand!

Fucking hell ......thats insane, so bottom end is really 170-270 then mid range boosts all up to 450 -650???

Don't buy FK AKs thinking they'll be decent because of the brand. They are shit. I've just bought a Mk2 with them and it's ridiculously stiff and bouncy.

right, a lil review.

visual= i asked for it to be low, but not too low as I'm due to have people in the back next wednesday so its nose down (which i like) but not too much! i had a look from under the car and there is still LOADS of thread left so plenty for proper lows

driving= now keep in mind they have only been on, what..7 hours so have no where near settled, but all i can say is they're fantastic. not crashy, and real smooth. granted they do bounce but this is only if I'm being REALLY critical. (remember they haven't settled yet so will get stiffer)

I'm going to pick up my new rims tomorrow, and then next thursday will be winding them down to suit the stance which will no doubt be a lot lower! but so far, they are a LOT better than what i was expecting. big thumbs up for the JOMs!

Great to hear you are happy with the Jom's. I'm looking at wheels at the min, so holding back on buying the coils till i've got the wheels. But i think i'm gonna go budget coils Premium wheels :-)

I am in two minds between bbs rm & Borbet A's. I'm sure i will be back here for advice & will change my ming 10 times over b4 i buy. Need to get it all bought before summer or i'll never do it.
