MrP, i love the effort and the car is sweet.

But is it just me that reads this thread and wishes you were putting this effort in to a GT or G40?

I followed your old threads religously before i ever owned my first GT.

Keep up the good work man!

He's left me to do that on his old GT ;)

I pretty much rebuilt that GT in 3 months... The only think I didn't touch was the bottom end and gearbox!!

'Fail Weekend'

Tried to roll my arches and lower my car to get some stance... And had nothing but issues.

Firstly, on the front, there is a integral clip where the liner fastens to.. When rolled it has caused ripples in the arch... This has happens on both sides.. I tried cutting and grinding back the clip to become flush with the rest of the underside.. It still happened....

The said clip:

The Result:

Now for the rears, it turns out a previous owner has attempted rolling the arches by cutting various slots on the underside of the arch and bending each one in individually, on a quick attempt to roll this caused loads of ripples on the outside of the arch in the same place each inner cut has been made... I'm fairly sure these will need to be repaired at a body shop.. I didn't even touch the other rear arch..

As a result I'm now looking out for some replacement front wings.. These are GTi specific so hard to come across.. But looking on the forum and ebay etc, when they do pop up they are only like £15 each.. There are loads for sale but no silver ones..

I'm on the lookout for a good body shop in and around Sheffield to fix the rear arches, and I mean roll the rears, not flair and repair any of the outside of paint damage and/or ripples. I'm thinking £250 for the rears, or is that being optimistic? If you know any good body shops let me know!

The fronts don't scrub any more but I can't go much lower, the passenger chassis sits on the front ARB and knocks like hell and the drivers side driveshaft knocks against the chassis! Until my arches are perfect it'll stay as it is, chassis won't get notched until then. I put the spacers on the rear and they wheels sit perfect, but scrub like hell.. They have been removed for the time being.. Anybody want a pair of Eibach 15mm Hubcentrics with longer bolts? £50 (that is half price!)

So my search for stance is on hold at the moment..

The gutting thing is that we did a few cars this weekend and mine was the only one which turned out like this. I think this is a prime example of what can go wrong with arch rolling if not done by a professional insured body shop. But, on the upside it only cost me £20 in total for the renting of the roller, and I've learnt a very important lesson and how to arch roll, I understand why companies like Archemeny and Bandedsteels can't guarantee their work.. It's not all down to the technique, it's also the condition of the arches being rolled.

bad times, every time i try and save money by doing it my self something always going wrong that i have to pay someone to put right.

Yes boys, I feel like shit still, I didn't go to sleep till gone 7am, I told work I was sick all night.. Everyone keeps saying how I still look ill... Brutal hangover.. I love 22 year old nurses..

Nursing for males is more popular than ever. Especially in Sheffield.

I'm also still dying from the weekend and its tuesday. Friday fireworks drinking session followed by staying up till 9am sunday morning after a Bedlam dubstep thing on saturday has pretty much killed me. Nice one on the nurse.

I'm confused about this statement, it makes no sense, Neil, are you high?

does the front of your car scrape on the plastic lining?

What plastic lining? Ha Ha...

Angle grinders are your friends!

Neils post made sense as i said, "Nursing for males is more popular than ever. Especially in Sheffield." Earlier in your thread but i think you missed it.

Saw this car the other night and it looks awesome. Rippled arches aside (as they will be fixed). The wheels look perfect and sit just right. White on silver..... a good choice sir.
