I am aware that VW made a 1.4TDI model in the 6N2 range, just curious if anyone has fitted such box to a 1.4 16V engine..Or if anyone knows about desiel boxes whether the stud arrangement is the same?

no it wont fit m8 as the starter is on the wrong side and its a different spline

i would of thought the gear ratio's would be wrong. in the mk2 golfs the diesel gearboxes have gear ratio's like the non sporty petrol models, where as the GTI's have short ratio gearboxes so fitting the diesel box makes the gears a lot longer and takes away from acceleration.

i can only assume that this would be the case for the polo's as well

not sure figured the diesel boxes would be alot torque with shorter gear ratio's so it would top at out like a 100 lol..

no it wont fit, the bellhousing/bolt pattern is different
