Alot of insurance companies wont insure yo with any mods until your over 21.

You will find conflicted views on here about people notifying their insurance companies about the mods they carry out. Some people do some people dont, what yo will find is that if you come to have an accident and you write your car off and you claim for your car then an engineer will look at your car and will report anything that isnt standard to your insurace company, if they deem that the mods that have been un declared to have contributed to the cause of the accident then they will probably void your insurance, an insurance company will look for anywa out of paying out on a claim.

But as said you generally hae to be over 21 to be insured on a modified car.....and do you think everyone on this forum is over 21 ;)

It depends what company you're with as to whether they'll insure mods for under 21s, I've had mods from when I was 18 with a couple of companies.

But you must declare them. If you can't afford to declare them, you can't afford the mod! The price of declaring is nothing compared to the price of all these bullshit whiplash claims that you would be liable for if your insurance company void your policy.

Not saying your talking shit dude but my personal experience with insurance companies and its more than one that they wont insure me with mods to the car if I'm under 21.....so its then not a matter of affording the mods, its a matterof being allowed them.

Members on here have come up with the same issue as have other mates of mine

I've only just started declaring my mods, but thats 'cos I'm over 21 and only makes it £50+ per mod which isnt too bad. But yeah I was gna declare window tints on my old civic and they added a couple of grand to my insurance so obviously I never declared....

Well not being allowed them is just as good a reason to not have them as not being able to afford them, the outcome is the same - void insurance.

I agree though lots of companies won't insure mods based on age, but that's not a good enough reason to have undeclared mods.

Each to their own i suppose thats the best way to look at it si morrall. As i said in my original post some people will declare others wont, its entirely down to yourself and if you want to take the chance.

clear indicators and debadged grill are not modifications that you need to tell your insurance company about

wheels...... if your car had alloys as standard fitting, then other alloys is not a mod, unless they are larger than the original equipment alloys

Some insurance companies do not like wheels that are more than 1 inch larger than the largest wheels that were fitted as original equipment to that "mark" of car

As in 16's or larger on a 6N

Coilover's / Lowering...... yes, tell them

or just get 25mm lowering springs & paint them black :ninja: ...... red screams "modded" to the rozzers & insurance inspector (IF you crashed & IF they bothered to come look at it)

Paul :D:thumbsup:
