right! sold my 1L mk3 that i had (project thread below somewhere) and bought a complete g40 conversion with a jabba rebuilt charger for £650 - the gearbox. Then found a shell for £150 with tax and test and also with powerflex bushings all round , g40 breaks , drilled disks and phil J 60/70 kit on. So now i have a almost complete car with only a few things left to buy

left to buy:

Front seats

Dash

gearbox , 8p or GT box anyone got one?

and a few other little bits

grill anyone got one?

indicators anyone got some?

rear carpet , anyone got some?

inside door handles , anyone got some?

Mods so far:

smoothed boot

smoothed spat holes

smoothed side indicators

black roof

powerflex lower arm bushings

powerflex arb bushings

full stainless steel exhaust

rebuild jabba supercharger

cone air induction kit

mk4 steering wheel (i never knew mk4 ones fited on mk3 steering racks :s)

inside of shell black instead of white

fire extinguisher inside (no idea how to spell that)

GT fuel pump

Left to do:

Shell resprayed in alpine white (again lol)

drop engine in

instal loom and tape up done

find some 14inch track wheels' any reccomendations?

fit radiator done

hide washer bottle

clean engine up a little bit more

give the engine a service ones in

fit boost gauge (i love saying that .. haha)

Don't put a G40 and GT gearbox together.

why not? , my mate run a g40 on a gt box for a year! topped out at 125 but was fine

lil update ,

Today i went and collected

GT seats

rear bumper

inside door handles

de badged grill

rear carpet

all for £45 so I'm happy :)

Next week I'm going to collect 4 bbs' ra's with decentish tires of the same person.

Also , got the loom up and running! we have light

waxed oiled inner arch and under the front sill where a plate has been welded.

fitted bumper , seats and interia bits

and a few other little niggly bits. I wont be working on it as much this week from mon-fri as i work stupid hours! but payday friday and i got £200 to play with .. so that will get me a gearbox and drivers side engine mount and wheels hopefully.. then the fun part begins dropping the engine in and getting it running

when did you get the car? last i knew a few weeks ago it was a chaps in nuneaton. i used to live round the corner from where he parked his car when he was at work. nice bloke, used to regularly give me a flash and a wave in the mornings...

ahah , well a guy called mugley bought it at dubunit, tamworth for the engine.. and then he was going to scrap it! But it still has mot and tax! so i bought it without interia and engine for 150 which is a real bargain because its had a gt ecu / fuel pump , powerflex bushings allll round , g40 brakes and drilled disks , and a few other little bits and bobs! and I've already made £60 back from selling teh ecu and fuel pump so i paid £90 for the shell haha

Some one said it was frmo a 90's spec mk2 golf on club g40. and it sits about 1inch and half more than a normal gt seat.. so nothing major! it dosent look odd at all

looks odd with the golf steering wheel but i like them on golfs so i cant see why they cant be on a polo

i have a lil bit of progress.. just cleaning the bay up like! ill upload pics now :)

loom is now all taped up!

where the mounts fit I'm spraying black and the rest of the bay I'm grinding rust out smoothing wee bits , hiding washer bottle and and giving it a fresh coat of alpine white.. or i was thinking another colour haha

like fluresant yellow or something! what do you think haha?

Also , money morning going to look at some GT arch trims and some 6 spoke ronal wheels , not sure what they are but they look ok!

haha get some pics of its former glory mate , wouldnt mind seeing how it used to be! still a pretty straight shell apart from the rust and the 2 plates thats been welded up under neith! but loks a proper job so its all good
