Because they are reliable, I know of a shit load of French cars that have dropped there spunk bubbles, not so many jap cars but they tend to rot more from my experience,

I had a corsa b that felt like it was gonna roll and dint feel substantial enough so my polo gti fund turned into a shit quick just get a decent built car!

Always loved vws from an early age, use to sit around my ends watching the young enthusiasts/drug dealers run around in proper nice mk2 golfs and the like,

and the picture above!!! Just look what's behind it! It's a pug with a body kit?? Tell me which car looks better "done up" so to speak!

Was given a mk3 polo that needed work as my first car, learnt how to do many things on that. Ever since just seemed to be more inclined to buying a VW. Prefer how they look compared to other cars, like working on them (except for the rust and difficult bolts) etc.

Also all the ones I've bought have been fairly cheap which is always a plus for me.

Since the mk3, had another 3 polo's and 2 golfs.

i always wanted a polo as my first car but insurance was too dear so ended up with a corsa, ended up having an accident and wirting it off, set out to get a mk2 fiesta but needed a car quick for work not finding the mk2 fiesta i wanted cos they was all sheds, me and my dad set out to get any old car..then came across an ad for a my polo litrally when i didnt think i was gonna get a car, drove up met the guy had a test drive and ended up takin it home

Because Rovers blow headgaskets too often, and if you're gonna spank a car, it might as well be a german one!

cos i been brainwashed by parents going to aircooled shows etc. whilst growing up. My dad suggested a polo as a first car and liked the look of them so was well up for it!

And I've done the same! Had a mk3, and two 6ns now, i loved my mk3 and thinking of getting another one next its just a matter of age and the repairs. Although parts for the mk3 are alot cheaper that the 6n i have found. After it costing me just under £100 incl parts to do the headgasket on my old mk3. They are so easy to work on...

my papa always had VWs: early beetles, mk1 golf then polos mk2 and 3squarebacks and my grandpa had a mk2 polo squareback too, so i was transported about in them all when i was wee and it seemed to have an effect. :-D

I actually wanted a Mini, but after spending ages looking for a good one in my pirce range I found one. Went to insure it and because it was modified they wanted a fortune. Kind of gave up after that, thought I'd get something that was cheaper to insure for a few years then buy a Mini. My neighbour had a mk3 squareback and I was always fond of it cause you didn't see many modified ones about. Still don't around my way tbh so I bought one. Joined here and saw some nice ones so kept on with it. Eventually bought a mk1 Derby and by then had made loads of good mates locally who were into VWs and loads of people on here so just kind of stuck around. Since then I've had about 4/5 mk3 Polos, 2 mk2s, 2 mk2 Golf, mk2 Jetta, mk1 Derby, mk3 Jetta so I've kind of been sucked in by the VWness. So initially I got one for the cheap insurance but I actually loved the cars and how easy they are to work on so I just kind of stuck with them.

^^ thats true i been going to all sorts of vw shows since i was 12 rolling with my dad in his van. everything about vw is amazing as soon as i turned 17 i brought a golf then now i have a polo. living the dream

I used to trade cars in my spare time,I've owned a couple of hundred. Was a bit patriotic with them,though.

I was into minis and Fiesta XR2s,had various pocket rockets from Metros to Seicentos but the Polo never came into it for being a granny's car. Id steered clear of VW's generally but for MK2 Golf GTi's owned by mates,when i bought a Scirocco on an impulse. I was so impressed with its solidarity yet agility,that i looked to the Polo for my ideal pocket rocket.

Cant believe it took me so long to find and tune one to my preference,when id penned my ideal XR2 and mini fifteen years earlier.

Because at 14 I said I wanted a car. So my mom pointed at the Non running 71 Beetle on the side of the garage and said "There you go"

I got it running. I drove (flew?) that car quite a bit till I submerged it 12 years later. Then I got into watercooled VWs and procured (at maximum) 7 Jettas in various states of disrepair. Now I'm just down to 2.

Well...and the 69 Beetle Vert that has almost returned back to the earth in the form of rust.

Was cheaper than the Fiesta and the Clio I was looking at.

Cos a 42 year old beetle always will be cooler, better made, (more reliable?) and more endearing than a 2 year old Corsa C. (beetle did cost more tho)

I also like having cars that dont depreciate. BeetleX3 mk2 Golf and Polo....

They ook awesome (Especially after a few mods) and are reliable so running costs are lowish. I'm doing a GD course too :) 1st year at RGU in aberdeen.

I own a VW because my first car was a vw polo it was a car that none of my friends or any one local to me had so i could be original!

i got an ibiza first, was only 300 quid and had a 1.6 conversion, loved it, plus my mate had a mk3 golf, loved tht car too. i also had a punto, which was just a sack of nuts, had no charater, slow, boring to drive, once one thing went wrong, everything did.

got my polo instantly put a smile on my face, looked cool, fun to drive (even the 1L) felt like a gokart even at standard hight. i like the quality of the stuff, decent strong engines, will live forever if u look after them. dont like the jap style, like the subtle look alot more and never looked back and wished id gone else where.

cant afford big power jap yet!

Small power jap? Ull learn off it ready for a big power jap, vw are completly diferent, where as most jap id imagine are very similar, would only make sense

when i say jap i mean rwd with a turbo, smallest thing i can think of is an s13 which i cant afford to insure:(

cos dan took me out in his g40 when iwas like 15 and that was it i was hooked lol

i chose my first dub a 70 beetle 10 year ago got into going to shows loved every minute since but to answer your question as has already been said its not just a car its a lifestyle
