DBStreetfighters Mk3 coupe road/track shlagg

finally got my camera working but now this bloody website wont let me upload photos. stressfull.

anyway. due to some thieving cnut i dont have any pics of it when i got it but it was red and erm... standard.

right. the first thing i did as soon as i got it home was completely strip the interior of anything not needed. i.e. rear seats, seatbelts, carpets, heavy shit front drivers seats, centre console (for sale) and rear strut caps (for sale) also, random nuts and bolts that served no purpose. how she looks inside now:

i then was given some bucket seats from a mate down the local VW meet (muchos respectos)

tturns out they are corbaeu gt seats so pretty chuffed with that.

anyway, i stripped the original drivers seats down to the frame, found some 1/4" corner section steel and welded 2 bars on then drilled holes to bolt the buckets to. they still slide and tilt as normal so I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. i know they aint pretty but they are strong as fuck and thats the main thing :)

I fitted (and heavily modified) a wolfsburg edition gearknob as well as a debadge grille and some clear indicators.

then it went black. lol.

around 10 tins of halfrauds finest satin black and dads electric sander did the trick for the first coat, but i have only done the first and I'm considering sanding it back and getting it professionally painted a different colour. anyway how she looks at the mo:

then I found some limo black window tint in my shed so on it went (will easily peel off if i change my mind)

please ignore the wheels as they are my "get the car on and off the drive rims" theres no way of getting it on with my 13"s cos the drive will eat my sump.

also, notice my 2 day home taught arch rolling :) picking up some 15x7's in a week so they need to fit as the roads around here are like a supercross track and i cant afford to replace tyres constantly lol

next was the cosworth backbox that I found at the side of the road (no lies!)

which my "special" friend welded onto a connector pipe (with his toes i think lol) I had previously made to fit the existing middlebox (notic the off centre stance lol)

soon to be replaced with a full system from Philj with a bit of luck...

Anyway a few more random pics:

Looks a remarkable finish with the satin rattle cans , but might look different in the flesh lol.

That turbos gonna need alot of work mate, Pistons , exhaust manifold , fueling and ignition.

You could maybe run it off electronic ignition and a sealed SU metro turbo carb?

Max

or renault 5 turbo inlet...

well i have acess to a welder so i would prob fabricate my own manifold and run it off an SU harley carb or summat. iv been told it doable but I'm gonna fit the head and MPI and see how it runs. if i do turbo it i will prob buy a 1.4 16v and rebuild that with better internals as i dont see the point in turboing the 1.3 8v if I'm gonna make it quick may aswell go the full hog :)

the paint looks ok in the flesh but i have experience spraying anyway. the cars filthy in the pics the only prob i round the window seals where the red is coming through thats why I'm thinking about buying a compressor, stripping it and doing a full proper respray.

cheers for your feedback guys

I would just like to point out that as my mrs has a bun in the oven, so if anyone fancies a swap for this then I'm open to anything. i still have the carpet and centre console. dont really want to sell, but if i get a good enough offer i may do. just a feeler for anyone who wants one of these and wants to swap.

cheers, Dan

congrats on the baby mate and i can see why you might want rid. I had to get rid of my gt when my misses had our twins because we could either take the kids in it or the push chair

shame tho mate cause it looks fucking nice

cheers dude

yea i like boras but cant help thinking about the old school lol

Honestly, i dont want rid of it and if i dont swap it then ill just end up keeping it for a weekend toy and buying a 'loon.

was tempted by another E36 bmw until i saw how much insurance has risen.

there's a nice blue bora on here i wanted but the guy aint interested in mine. gutted cos that would have been ideal. I'm jus gonna carry on with the olop for the moment and see if i get any interest. its turning into a fun projet and is pretty quick as it is. if i keep it ill be more than happy and likewise if i sell. I've got 7 months until the babys here anyway so we will see how it goes :)

SHES UP FOR SWAPS NOW IF ANYBODYS INTERESTED

So reminds me of the GT eh Guy?

Looking good. Nowt wrong with those rims that are on it now tbh. Quite a good contrast. Not quite sure how you're gonna get on with 15x7 rims tho. Stretched rubber me thinks.

Also, you said there was no point modifying the 1.3 8v engine. Yoof did a 12.5 second run @ santa pod (ok, probably with nitrous but still) shows what can be done.

keep with it ;)
