using this engine and gearbox setup

into the ex Volkswagen Motorsport 6n2 cup car shell. (will get pics up tomorrow of this)

to get something like this

so here starts anothe built lets hope I can build another car to the quality of the mk2 and lets hope I dont destroy this one with in 3 rallies.

its gonna be gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood :D

Group N or Group A?

Hope you've got a decent gearbox - I'm finding the stock one a bit long and I want a shorter ratio/final drive in mine!

It will be far from group N. not sure what class the thing will come under.

Ye i have a sort ratio gearbox well the sortest gears i could find using standard vw boxes ans a 4.267 final drive.

nice to hear things are pushing forward, when you aiming to get done? I'm doing the southdown stages in feb next year...

right people whats the score with the top mounts between the 6n and the 6n2 I notice on the 6n2 shell it has bolt holes in the shell around the main big hole and the 6n just has the big hole smae kind of idea as the mk2.

yep thats it, the 6n2's top mounts are bolted on using the 3 bolts at the top of the turret, whereas the 6n just has the normal single bolt on the strut holding it in

  • Author

ok cheers so i need to get 6n2 top mounts then.

REALLY happy to see you working on a project again : ) Can't wait to see how this one turns out! I loved your mk2 it's such a shame that it's beyond repair :(

this thread may be useful or maybe for parts info

lad on e38 is building a motorsport themed 6n2 with adjustable top mounts etc etc

great project looking forward to seeing it progressing! :D

Christian

I wouldn't be using anything made by "compbrake" they are terrible quality components, I had a big brake kit made by them the mounts sheared in half the first time i used them!
