I have bought a straight cut close ratio polo challange rally car gearbox with a HOER gear kit.

Dread to think how much that cost!

Ye it wasnt to bad as it is freshly rebuild with a gearkit that has no marks on it so looks like it has done little work and also a gemini slip just been serviced and set up for tarmac. so all new really.

The spec is

Polo Challenge Gearbox Ratios.

F/D z= 60/15 = 4.0:1

5th z =23/19 = 1.211

4th z=24 /17 = 1.412

3rd z=27/16 = 1.688

2nd z =27/13 = 2.077

1st z =31/11 = 2.818

Which is the tarmac spec for the challange cars.

I'm really happy with it as I've been looking for one for years.

was that for sale on ebay recently? I was looking at one and really wishing I had the cash to splash on it!

not that i know of but could have been. I got it from a guy on here. i think there was a g40 cup car box on ebay recently.

That may have been the one I saw and considered!

Would really like a better box, but finding the stock box with stock engine is getting the power down OK so far!

ye nothing wrong with the satndard item exept the differential I was blowing them up all the time so had an lsd installed in my box and found the best ratios i could find using standard parts and it did the job but in the end the rally cars with the close ratios still had far better acceleration than me so this is the reason for needing this.

at a bargain price for that too, keep at it hywel, will pop over to see you and the missus, and hopefully catch up with greg aswell, next time I'm down your way

I wouldn't be using anything made by "compbrake" they are terrible quality components, I had a big brake kit made by them the mounts sheared in half the first time i used them!

did they replace the parts?

tbh if they would, then i would definatly consider them, i mean 180 quid for a pedal box with 1 or 2 master cylinders! nearly cheaper than getting a brand new master cylinder from VAG

ye would be good to see you again, do they do a bias pedal box for the mk5 polo?

i dont think they do tailored ones, might be worth asking them.

the ones i was looking at were universal items, either floor or bulkhead firewall mounted.
