Got some coilovers coming soon but have some quick questions before fitting them.

Is there any thing I need to do about compressed springs when removing old shocks and springs?

Edit: Also could anyone list the bits I would need to keep from my old springs/shocks.

alright mate. with me i needed to keep my top mountings on the front (new coilies didnt come with) so i had to take apart the front struts to get the mounting. i used a set of spring compressors (£15 from halfords i think). shouldnt need to take the rears apart.

best to keep it all mate. i had to put all mine back on for the mot. car was too low for the ramp lol

Hi, I swapped the springs on my polo for lowered ones, keeping the original shocks and then decided to go for Jamex coilovers... the tracking and alignment was checked (most important to do this)... the ride is very firm with no obvious dampening... so speed bumps must be crawled over... I'm worried longterm use with the Jamex will put too much strain on other parts and am now thinking of going back to lowered springs with stiffened dampers, hopefully for a smoother ride. I don't want to be nodding my head as I drive down the road.... shame cos the car looks awesome 45mm lower... also, there's a constant rattling noise at the front... can't figure what it is... my theory is the springs on the coilovers are rubbing as they're too compressed!!! Any ideas?

^ its a combination of stiff springs and shocks, better quality shocks help this alot i had ta technix and had issues you describe now i have fks and the great!
