If it was his fault, and it sounds like it was since he has offered you money to repair it, then you will not lose your no claims bonus if you go through insurance as his policy will pay for it.

going get some prices on the dent and scuff gettin removed and done, get back to the guy tell him the price if he does'nt accept you will just have to claim through the insurance - not sure if you will loose your NCB

is it bad or is it not really noticeable. id probs just trouser the cash and just not get round to having it done

As has already been said dude..best bet is to get quotes for the repai of the damage. Let the chap know then offer him the chance of either paying for the damages in cash or go through his insurance as due to the fact that he offered you money hes accepting liability therfore it would be his insurance that pay for the repairs and thus you keep you no claims discounts. However if he doesnt have insurance and hes offering you the money with the hope that you will simply except the money and leave it at that then its a completely different story.

The dents not that bad atall i doubght most people would notice it unless they was looking for it. and i decided i'm gonna do what you said, having a hard time with money while being out of work and when i get a job i was either gonna save for a full respray or clean 3dr polo

I would just take the cash if the scuff/dent isn't too bad. Insurance fix will probably cost a few hundred even for a tiny repair. If you haven't got any witnesses it's easy for him to say you ran into the back of him.
