Hi there.. I've found this forum really useful, but now I have a specific question, so this is my first post.

I have a 2006 Polo Gti (Australian). My question relates to the air conditioning fan switch.

The fan has four settings (0-off..1,2,3,4).

When I turn the switch from '0' to '1'.. nothing happens. When I switch to '2' the fan comes on and 3, 4 work fine.

So it appears the '1' fan setting simply doesn't work.

This seems weird. I've checked the fuses, but of course if the fan fuse had blown, none of it would work.

Am I going crazy? Before I pull it all apart (or replace the switches) am I forgetting something? Is there some reason why setting '1' would not work?

it probably is working its just speed 1 isnt that fast so you can really here the fan kick in other than that you may have a dodey reostat

Mate.. it's definitely not working. No air comes out.. simple as that. I'm not sure what you mean by 'dodgy reostat'. I think I need more information than this.

Is anyone else able to help?

The fan speed is controlled by a resistor which is about 50mm long, IIRC. It should be behind the fan switch, or around that area. The resistor has probably just blown so it'll need replaced.

I don't know how much it would be, around a tenner? *-)
