Wobbly accelerator

Featured Replies

My accelerator peddles has too much play in it... I'm hoping for an easy fix like tighten a cable somewhere or something :) you have to press it like an inch and a half until it engages but is fine after that. Any suggestions? hopefully not a replacement jobbie.

Cheers

where the cable meets the little bracket on the throttle body/carb mount theres a little plastic adjuster with grooves in it and a clip...if theres that much play then I'm guessing the clip may have fallen off or sumthing. have a look and make sure the adjuster is pulled down until the cable is tight but not actually opening the inlet... then you'll have the pedal back to normal posision and will be back to normal.

Is this for a 6n2? My accelerator seems to have far too much play and not as revvy as it should be.

Yeah we could do with knowing what car you drive - if its a pre-'94 the plastic bushes wear, and the clips on each end for the two bushes can come off.

I made new bushes on a lathe in steel, giving me a pedal action like its on bearings.

If the problem is just reach, then as said above,as long as its a cable one it can be adjusted at the engine end.
