Wheels wheels wheels , where do i start

Featured Replies

Right I've got my Eye on some wheels , the 15's look awsome but I'm not sure what a mk3 is going to look like on 15's as i always had 13's in mind for it

so lets say i go for

Rim Width: 7J

Rim Diameter: 15 inches

Offset: 27

how much would i need to lower it to get it looking right ? , and also will these poke out my arch ? ,

so its either them AEZ , deep dish polished ect

ats cups /classics

weller 7x13 et 24 front and 3 rear i think ,

alley cats 7x13 , -7et has to be a no no ? ,

any ideas of whats what or similar wheels and lowering levels that would be needed , pics would be helpfull (:

cheers people (:

the offse it minus -7 ! , will stick out miles ,

like a good offset is front -et 24 and rear et 3 i think on a mk3. (based on a 7J rim) ,

to fit -7 you need to flare the arches out , roll the lips and its so much involved , but there £60 a rim ! so inbetween .

what i really want is some 7J bandded steels or something along them lines ,

have you got any photo's of the 15's? i think it's really hard to get 13's too sit right on a mk3, so many try and so many fail. my old mk3 was 80mm down on 13's and it still had a big arch gap at the front that just ruined it, imo a nice set of 14's look so much better although saying that i've seen some looking really good on 15's

for example

i do have the pics of the 15's i want but not on a polo .

the probelem is i want something with a nice dish but i find thats more common on the 13's , i dont want to spend a fortune either. and i really do love banded steels like welleres ect but there rare to get hold off :/

theres the 15's I'm talking about ,

so the 13's leave a horrid gap , what sort off rims come about in 14's with a nice dish ? , i like the look of bbs ra's used to have some but sold them to dish'up ;]

13's dont always leave gap, depends on tyres.

As goo as lowpros look, it can look better with bigger tyres on a mk3.

I've managed to get mine perfect just with the use of standard size tres (G40)

But that is on RA's. Wider wheels would need lower profile tyres.

14's are probably the best for a MK3

As for allycats, find a 2nd had set that arent mini fitment with a stupid offset.

wellers and banded steels aren't hard to get hold of, you can buy them new still/have them made...a lad on here had a set of -7 offset minilights milled down so the poke on the front was less, theres way around everything...

zero archgap on the front on 13's...get the grinder out, and choose your tyres wisely

it's not my car, its iscariots on here...the key is, angle grinder.

fuck me that looks good

that's gotta of taken a lot more than just a lowering kit/chopped springs, has he had to notch the chassis at all? my steering arms hit the chassis if i turned the wheel too much

this is how mine sat

DSC00220.jpg

No modifications to the chassis, it's not even that close to catching! :unibrow:

for the guy above, tyres are 165/55 ditchfinders, rears are two notches up I think, but the rear arches are majorly flared so give the illusion that it's a bit higher than it actually is

so what drop are you running mate? or did you just chop off how ever many coil's were needed to get it sitting right?

80/80 kit from phil j, couple of coils out of the front. It never really sat that low until i replaced the top mounts, then suddenly boom its on the floor. Don't ask me how

fair play

looks lush any way mate
