So on friday i failed my test after putting it off for ages as i wanted to be sure i could pass. i've now been learning for 6 months.

i got 4 minors and 2 majors. one for turning into a backed up road so i messed up another car that was also trying to go into the road, and one was because i went a bit too fast up to a roundabout on 2 separate occasions. most annoying thing was after the test he told me he was really close to passing me but cos i made a few small mistakes he couldn't. got home and checked next available test, 6th of july. i literally felt like selling up and giving up. its taken this long for me to look at the forum again and my car seems to be mocking me every time i walk past it in the drive.

however i am going to start ringing up for cancellations next week and hope I'm not a complete idiot and fail again.

anyone had similar experiences? i never understood why people were so emotional over failing their tests but now i get it.

oh well, think i'm going to do some retail therapy and buy me some speakers and clear indicators.

when my test got cancelled the next one was 2 months away so i spent a good 3 hours (i was that pissed off) refreshing the online booking form for cancellations and got one the next week. its all luck i spose..

I got a bit like that when i looked at insurance quotes. I know i should be able to blag summat affordable, otherwise ill be selling up and killing myself on a VFR400 or something.

i passed on my 5th, proper minor stuff each time but they cant pass you even if the rest of your driving is impeccable.

selling up is hardly the answer, man up and await the next test and just go with the flow, itll come eventually and you never stop learning even 10/20/30 years after passing

i did not pass my test till i was 19 one of the last of my mates and the most car mad i just could not afford it then when i could i passed on my 3rd test and the amount of freedom it will give you is amazing.

its then only your wallet size that's stop you doing things and going places!

failed me theory twice on stupid things was so pissed off because i knew that was money lost that i couldnt spend on a car lol

i passed first time only had 17 lessons but i couldnt pass my theory for shit

I'll second that. Took me 4 attempts to pass n my 4th test was so relaxed i cruised through with 4 minors!!!

I passed 3rd time, 1st time on my theory.

I just did silly things the first two attempts and the 3rd attempt i had a badly mashed shoulder from a mountain biking accident so he let me off the harder bits

Stick with it chap. The tests are getting harder but you're 99% of the way there.

Past my driving test in Germany on the first attempt. My bike test however, i passed on the second go, with several minors.

i was so depressed.

on my first test, it was perfect, i got 1 minor. i got a major, for literally touching a dropped kerb (like 1cm high) you could barely feel it, i didnt even mount it.

at the end of the day they are a business, the more they fail the more money they get for people booking tests again. just keep checkin cancellations mate!

theory - passed first time, test - passed first time.

the important thing is to not get nervous, i stayed relaxed and my test only took 29 minutes. my instructor even said he'd never seen anyone as calm on the day of a test.

If it makes you feel any better it took me just over two years to pass failed my theory twice and my test once and was told by my first instructor that i wouldnt ever pass

But in the end i found a different instructor and stuck with it and i passed my second test and off i went

well at least the guy wasnt out to fail you, my mate had some bastard he tryed asking the tester how he was and he reply 'awful you all turned up so far' gave him minours for talking said he wasnt looking in his mirrors when aprentley he was lol got a total of 14 minours and 2 majors

Glad i had a happy old man for my test and he let me re-do my parellel park without marking me down cos i got pulled by feds earlier on in the test what was pretty fair

just keep at it man its well worth it when your car runnning all good

I did however have to deal with two weather cancellations and re-bookings. So I was even more nervous and frustrated when it came to taking my test.

The examiner was really nice though, pretty much told me if I'd done anything wrong throughout the test, which does actually make you a lot more relaxed believe it or not.

This is true, while my examiner was a really nice bloke cos i failed on niggly bits i didnt know if id passed or not literally til he told me.

worst feeling ever sitting there while he marked up the green sheet.

Passed practical test first time, 6 minors (instructor fitted a new clutch to the car a few days before my test, go figure..) and had 13 lessons overall.

Passed theory test on the third time, the actual theory aspect of it i had passed each time no problems, it was the hazard perception that i wasnt so good at

My first time practical i had some little rat of a bloke who failed me in the first 15mins when i rubbed the curb with a wheel when reversing, so spent the rest of the test driving in a rage knowing i failed.

The 2nd time was some woman i was talking to, pretty much chatting her up, i passed, she was hot aswell.

I even had to drive up/mount the pavement to get past an unloading lorry on a one way road, she said i could though so it's all good.

I was the last of my mates to do my car test.

They all did it at 17, but I was into bikes so did my bike test. Passed the bike theory first time and the bike test second time, because of a stupid mistake on the first one.

Then 4 years later at 21 I decided to do my car test. Passed the theory first time, and the test first time with 2 minors, passed in December, those 6 months have gone bloody quick!

Mine got cancelled because of all the snow, was meant to be early december, got put back to early feb, then i past. Was 1st time. 2 minors. :)

i passed both first time

but back then the theory was a piece of paper with 35 questions,and my practical was the last before the testers lunch..

i got lucky

Keep at it fella. Bikes are cool, but a car license is undeniably handy for all sorts of stuff.
