Passed first time and had no theory test cos I is ancient.

So on friday i failed my test after putting it off for ages as i wanted to be sure i could pass. i've now been learning for 6 months.

i got 4 minors and 2 majors. one for turning into a backed up road so i messed up another car that was also trying to go into the road, and one was because i went a bit too fast up to a roundabout on 2 separate occasions. most annoying thing was after the test he told me he was really close to passing me but cos i made a few small mistakes he couldn't. got home and checked next available test, 6th of july. i literally felt like selling up and giving up. its taken this long for me to look at the forum again and my car seems to be mocking me every time i walk past it in the drive.

however i am going to start ringing up for cancellations next week and hope I'm not a complete idiot and fail again.

anyone had similar experiences? i never understood why people were so emotional over failing their tests but now i get it.

oh well, think i'm going to do some retail therapy and buy me some speakers and clear indicators.

I failed for speeding for like 10 seconds and 4 minors on the 19th APRIL, my next test i got was 11th of JUNE!!!

Passed my theory first time, and 7 lessons and passed my practical first time, i guess its just luck on the day, i scraped my theory, unlucky bud

passed my theory first time, but from the first day i started learning i knew i was never gunna pass my practiacal first time, practical day came and i managed to get 5 majors and 13 minors :-D , waited two weks for my next test didnt have any lessons between then and passed with 4 minors.

passed on my 4th, ended up having an argument with my examiner because he took me out for double the normal test length and was looking for a way to fail me. Then had him for my next test which didnt go to well.

Just keep trying once its done you dont have to worry.

1st time, examiner was safe as fuck; was some welsh chap had a right laugh with him!

Good luck for next time mate I think at the end of the day it's luck of the draw, sometimes you'll get great road conditions other times you'll just come up against loads of shit.

Haha 1st time for both, only 3 minors, best way is to take it steady and dont rush it otherwise you will make mistakes

Passed theory 1st time and practical 1st time - 3 minors like joe 2 of which were mirrors :grin:

The instructor has a said route. So if you do the whole thing as quickly as possible. You'll finish the route quicker, be on the road for less time and therefore have a smaller timeframe in which to make any errors.

So in conclusion. Screw speed limits and observation, do the whole thing at 80, get it done in 10mins. And you'll be more likely to pass.

First Theory, First Practical, 2 weeks and 6 lessons, 2 Minors, no other driving apart from lessons. Just be relaxed about it is the best advice I can give, oh and have a fair bit of luck on your side!

1st time on theory, got my test in June, had 70 odd hours so far

passed theroy first time just 31 out of 35 lol

practical 3rd time tho

failed first time within over keen failed within 10sec of leaviung testcentre doing 55mph in a 30mph haha ops

2nd try didnet go the way the instructor told me to becuse i picked the wrong lane

i had the same examiner twice and he was an uteer arsehole. the most mierable thing I've ever met! The chap i had on my 3rd attempt was sweet as fook and we have a good laugh. Even let me off the reverse parking as i had a buggered shoulder :)

Theory first time, practical third time. Combination of bad luck and nerves really, the third time I chilled out and just got into the flow of it and passed with 4 minors. Indicating before checking mirrors, did that 3 times, one time I got a bit too hard on the brakes.

70 HOURS!!!!!! Based on your lessons being £20, you've spent £1400 on driving lessons! I had 16 hours and I thought that was quite a lot haha.

Passed my theory 3rd time as I kept clicking too soon on the hazard perception. The practical I though was well easy, Passed first time with 2 minors.

They're 14.50 an hour cos I know the instructor, so I've spent far too much :(

i passed on my forth time was minor stuff each time but thought i was never gonna pass but dont give up it really is the best experience in the world to be told these words (I'm happy to say you have passed) and the doors it opens for you just keep going and i passed my theory first time with near top marks

I passed practical first time, was in the room waiting when all the examiners came in and was looking at em n saw this old moody guy and was like oh god hope i don't get him and sods law i got him lol.

It was ok though we talked throughout the test and i was pretty sure i cut up a van that was trying to undertake me coming off a roundabout but he said it was cool and that i did everything properly and passed me with 4 minors.

isnt it weird being driven home by your instructor? especially when you have been used to sitting in the drivers seat for however many months???

Like people have said, it's not how quick you pass your test. It's how much you want to learn, and how much you dedicate to learning to drive. I was revising the theory for about a year before my 17th birthday, and took driving lessons 2 months after my 17th birthday and passed my theory first time 5 month after having my first driving lesson with only 3 questions wrong out of 50. Then i passed my driving test 6 months after my first driving lesson first time. I'm not saying your not doing your revision, but i revised the theory and the practical a lot. Then i got rewarded with freedom by being given a certificate and the driving license card in the post about 1 week later.

Take things at your own pace mate, don't be rushed. Also, like grunge said you will still be learning even when you pass with all the different driving experiences.

Got to agree Mike. It show much you want to learn and pass. This may sound really sad but from when I was about 14 - I would watch what people were doing when driving (though it did give me bad habits when learning :grin: )

Never cross your hands when doing it. Kept getting told off from my instructor for doing it though - great instructor though!

I passed my theory first time and my practical on my fourth, ended up passing a few days short of a full year of learning, after my third attemp i changed driving instructor and test centre, passed with only 2 minors :)

scaped through my theory by one mark and the passed practical first time with 5 minors although i hd to wait 6 months till i could afford a car and insurance and in that time loads of my mates passed and got cars

My mrs`s younger brother has failed his test three times now. Not quite sure why the first two times but the third time was because the dual carriageway he was on turned into three lanes and he did`nt get over to the left hand lane..

The first time he did the test the woman examiner looked at his address and said do you have a large family, he said no not really so she said why do you have a big house! What a fcukin idiot. You`ll get there mate, just keep at it, I remember doing mine, not a fun experience at all but one you get it ure free, you`ll soon start picking up bad habits lol
