mini cooper S gearbox's are as bad as polo gearbox's

Will a gearbox from a Chrysler engine bolt up to a VW engine? Not without serious engineering work,no.

Your best bet's a Lupo GTI box, although that still doesnt drop straight in iirc

i thought it was a chrysler neon engine.

lupo box isnt straight swap, Its a hydraulic clutch iirc

hm.., y ai know about lupos boxes, any other ideas how can i get 6 spped in my Gti ?, anyway is it a loot of work to fit lupo box ?

It's a dash out and pedal box change iirc! Not hard but time consuming apparently!

it'll have its advantages, but for the fuck on, just put the 5 speed back in

you need the lupo gti block period.

you can change it to a cable operated clutch, there is a vw conversion part, i have one myself, but the polo gti lump wont fit the loop gti gearboxes, the crank case is wider.

you only have to search lupo in this section to find out a simliar large number of threads opened by noobs who got told the sald thing

you don't need 6th for motorway at all, it won't change the final drive that much?

you thinking it'll save you money on petrol or something? lol off set that saving off the cost of a lupo GTI block and box, plus everything else you'll need. tbh, you may aswell convert it to a wet clutch

Your gearbox is more than enough for motorway driving with a little surgery.

If you use the 5th gear from a 6n diesel and a 3.3 final drive from a G40 or certain others (some Seat models have long final drives iirc) then you'll be geared for a good 160mph.

Mine is a 1.6 8v petrol gearbox with 1.4 8v fifth gear, which lets me do 70mph at 2700rpm and over 100mph at 4k rpm. This is quite a moderate increase - my final drive is quite short at 3.8:1 so my first four gears are quite short.

Thx for advice, ill drop 6 spped idea and focus more on makin 5th gear longer :)

yeah the ratio wont change much for 6speed lupo box.

I know what you mean though, 4k at 80mph!
