Youll get a better finish with a rattle can if you take your time, hammerite is that think that you cant really go wrong! get a rattle can and about 2-3 should do it depending on how many layers you want to do.

yeah I've been reading that hammerite doesnt give a brilliant finish. think ill have another go with rattle cans but take my time alot more.

might be a stupid question but by one coat do people mean from one side to another and back? or is it a case of covering the alloy then stopping? bit confused by this..

done two layers with hammerite on a brush on my steelies and it looked ok, wasn't really after a high quality finish,

one coat is covering the wheel once, not necessarily a good covering, just a light one, then let it dry, and repeat this a few times, building the covering up slowly, this avoids runs, orange peel and other side effects of a rushed paint job.

Never painted any rims with hammerite but i'd use the spraycan stuff. Not getting marks brushing it on is gonna be hard.

Painted some old rims i had in Levertons CAT black. 1 coat was enough its that thick

i think ill try hammerite on a spare wheel i have lying about; even though i might get brush marks id rather try this first as I'm better with a paintbrush - make use of my art a-level lol

then if its crap ill spray them. danny6n; think that was my problem then as everything i paint always ends up way too dark and comes off when i wet and dry it haha

also if its a light colour you're spraying, use a light/white primer first
