being honest who like the new vw's ?

Featured Replies

right guys i must say that everyone has there own taste in cars wich isnt a problem!

but i just wondered who actually likes the new range of vw cars! i.e the new polo, the new golf, the new sirroco (if thats how you spell it)

in my own opinion i actually cant stand to even look at the new golf! its hidious lol and the new polo looks to much like the golf so the new look polo doesnt get me excited, and the sirroco isnt great looking as it looks like a squashed bug and the old rocco looks way more retro and cool if you ask me! I'm just not feeling the new cars at all! when the likes of the new seat ibzia looks way more better than the modern vw, be honest guys we all have a passion for vw but i feel the new ones are getting worse :?

me personaly love all the new range of dubs they all look top yes the polo does look like a little golf but are well its sweet, only car ime not keen on is the new passat CC the back of the car looks shit basicly

Losing the plot imo.

Look at the Golf GTI for example. Quicker back then than it is now because its gained too much unnecessary weight. The Polos doing much the same thing. Is there even a sporty model of the new polo being released?

i dont know if they did itll probablly be tdi wich wouldnt be good

Love the current rocco and loved the MK5 GTi. MK6 is horrid imo and the new polo is the same. Not liking the new upsweft light clusters.

There will be a Polo GTi later in the year.

I think they look really good. They all have the same image that almost all other car manufacturers do now, i.e. all the cars looking the same in some aspects, just like they used to back in the 80's.

The new MK6 Golf looks 1000x better than the MK5 in my opinion. They really fucked the MK5 up, the front and especially the rear look terrible in my opinion, the new one looks alot better and more aggressive.

Still, all new cars are going to be heavy compared to their older counterparts, think of all the safety standards they have to meet these days, emissions, economical etc, you can't pack a car with features and expect it to still weigh just over a ton.

Drive one, you'll change your mind. I love my mk6 :) Apart from the fact it does everything so well, which makes it a little boring! haha.

See i dont like boring. I like being involved in the driving process. Old cars seem simplier by modern day standards to repair and less to go wrong which i see as a good thing.

i did like the mk5 gti..... however even my nan knows what a mk5 golf looks like and she is 87 (there way to common)

I think the current range of VWs is the best they've been making for a good while actually, they lost their way during the 90s but have started making good cars again. You see so many of them because they are good cars. I especially quite like the new polo, best looking one they've made in a long time.

In my opinion old VW's are better than newer ones, new dubs are too curvy and seem to be getting slower?

Sorry mate....but i'd have a new Scirocco over an old Polo every day of the year.

I personally LOVE all of the new VW's! I think that they are looking their best now than then have for a long time. I have 6n2 GTi which I also love, but I think that the new Polo is soo much better looking, especially the new GTi due to come out later this year. I like all of the cars across the range... maybe not the Fox (but it is great for what it is :))

I think the current range is excellent. Yes the have got heaver as People want leather seats, Air Con, Sat Nav so they include them. Plus all the crash protection, electronics, etc..

I think the new polo looks really good also. Like a mini golf.. and that's not a bad thing. I'm looking forward to the GTI version, I just hope you can get it with out the crappy DSG or what ever its called!

Yes older cars have their quirks and characters but if its between running my polo as a daily or the BM, the BM wins by a mile.

Theres a dude on here who posted one of his family members cars up on here. Its the new polo with a nice kit on it. lowered 30mm and looks like r32 rims, Which all came standard. Looks absolutely stunning imo

I like the rocco with the Reiger kit on, but it's got a bit samey since the rest of the range got the same front end. Anything else is just another modern car, don't dislike them as such, but no more interestting than a Citroen or a Kia.

I would say the Scirrocco is quite abit different from the rest. The front looks alot more aggressive, and the back end is like nothing else!'

I'm liking the new stuff :) Saw a new Golf R the other day and it looked so god damn sweet!

Not made my mind up on the polo n golf, love the scirroco and the passat cc. But i dont like alot of new cars for the reason that there all gettibg toi similar. For instance, fiesta/corsa/ mazda 2, ford focus/ citeron c4 are the same etc.....

But some loom sweet, most volvos for a start are great

I love all the new VW's. They flow soooo nicely. Id have one over my mk4 golf any day of the week. The mk5 golf was a bit of a let down with the horrible rear lights and the odd shape but the mk6 is mean and smooth.

Beautiful!!!!

the only one of the current vw range i would buy if i was in the market for a new car is the scirocco. i'm not a fan of new car's in general but there's just some thing about viper green mk3 scirocco's that gives me a bit of a warm fuzzy feeling inside that i haven't experienced since my first encounter with a pair of tits.

That statement used to be true, certainly with the mk4 Golf when it seemed as though VW would just slap a GTI badge on anything. The mk5 GTI changed this though, and was much more worthy of the GTI badge. Pretty sure the mk6 is very similar.

And yeah there's a new Polo GTI on the way :-)

Ah this old argument again

What makes an old and new VW depends on your standpoint. I reckon most air cooled owners look at our water cooled stuff and reckon they're boring.

VWs have always had a 'family' look shared across the range, take any period in the brand's history and you'll find there are similarities in styling between different models.

And they're faster too.

The Polo GTI is the fastest to wear the badge, it'd dump on a standard G40 and in tuned form it'll be properly rapid.

The current Golf GTI is the quickest ever made on paper, and the R is one of the fastest VWs ever made.

The Scirocco outpaces every single 'classic' Rocco.

The Passat R36 is faster and more powerful than any other Passat VW have ever made.

And that's despite all the extra weight. OK so it's a limited view, based on factory figures not how they feel to drive etc, but they are definitely faster, better built cars.
