Just found this dude who has opened a self serve garage.... basically you book your car in and he lets you use the ramps and of you go... your free to do it your self. He also offers tool hire but you can take your own if you like..GREAT for people who need a look or need to work under the car. So i popped round to have a look and was impressed.

The dude who owns it is called Darren and was very friendly

Its located in Darwen Lancashire so you would need to live local to benefit but worth a look.

Could be useful for local lads who like to work on there own cars

I saw this mentioned in PPC magasine a month or so ago. Looks interesting but I thought it worked out quite expensive if you needed to hire tools as well. Still it's a really great idea!

Yeh its not cheep but id rather pay £10 an hour for a dry warm place with a ramp to change a gearbox, than roll around in the wet on the floor trying to undo my drive shafts.

quite right, also worth considering that jobs take a fair bit less time to do when you have the car on a ramp too with good access.

Shame there isnt one round here :( I hate laying under my car on the grass (which is often too long!) with cars blasting past 1m or so away at 60mph!
