My little Mk2 Golf!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, been floating about on here for a while, decided to go and take some pics yesterday, thought i would post some up.

I got it as my first car when i was 17, last june, has been sat off the road, mostly doing little bits to it, and on passing my test 1st time (thank fuck) in january this year it has been on the road.

Was set on a Mk2 from the off, waited for a long time for the right one to come up, this one came up on eBay..... Bought the car completely standard, 68000 miles, 2 owners from new, 12 months tax n test, all for the tidy sum of £300. Long drive up to hull to get it, but was well worth it!

Its a 1300cc, carb'd, on a 4 speed box, 1986 so one of the earlier mk2's.

All the mods i have done myself with help from Haynes and the combination of all the forums online (thanks!) and my school printer!

Mods i have done so far are, coilovers (wound all the way down of course) Replaced the front OEM splitter, pressed plates, smoked crystal fronts, US style rears, C indicator blanks, taken out rear interior - kept front, radio blanking plate, replacement OEM steering wheel, removed side-strips, linseed'd the plastics........

Currently on weller steels. There 13"x5.5j not sure on offset, i reckon close to ET20....... On 155/60. Love how the fronts sit, tucked, but got two 13"x7j's coming for the rear, so will get those arches full soon!

Future mods include, 280mm G60 fronts (with that, new late spec 16v hub set up, will do wishbones too) , full PollyBushes, Strut braces. And at some point i am to put a KR lump in, on some variation of carbs.... (swaying towards R1's) and depending on how the 7's sit, camber shims too.

Hope the pics work  rubbish at this sort of thing........ :wtf:

Thanks, A black strip been matt blacked on, like an inch lip. Makes a massive difference i reckon. Goes well with the other blacks.

Yeah, i love early mk2's! Thats why i wanna do a KR on carbs, to keep it clean and simple. Don't want miles of wires in a messy bay...... And g60's wont fit under these as they are, as it is the calliper is 1.5mm from the rim. Thats partly the reason i am going staggered, with the low offset that they are, i might get away with pushing the fronts out out 22ish mm to clear whilst still being tucked/poked stance. FIngers crossed. Either way, i am looking forward to 280mm's!

Cheers for comments guys!
